The problem with picking the likes of degan, voronin and N'gog is that you take a chance with freebies in the hope you get a cracker. Very similar to mccarthy and Santa Cruz at Blackburn. Although not freebies, they were very cheap and had had indifferent careers.

The benchmark for deciding why we bought such players should be judged on price paid. For instance, Pennant and Dossena have been bought for very inflated fees. I picked Dosena due to his poor ability. Pennant has the qualitybut wil NEVER possess enough commitment to be successful at the top tier of football.

Yes Babel looks expensive now, but, if given a fair crack at coming on down the middle then i'm sure you'll see a good player. He was an impact striker last year and we all had great hopes for him. Keane is another example of an inflated fee but one that imo will be justified.

I mean Keane was brught in to partner Fernando. Yet, with the euro's and torres' injury problems they haven't yet gelled. But, i'm sure once torres is back and we must win games then rafa will go to 4-4-2 and drop stevie back and partner keane and torres together.

But, back to subject and i reckon that Udinese must of :censored: themselves when they found out we were willing to pay 6m for that player. Babel, lucas, N'gog are or future and will be re-sellable.

I'm suggesting that rafa shoud have picked a better date to get ill . I mean arsenal away for gods sake , how selfish and inconsiderate can he be . If i was in charge i would have carried on until they had to suck them stones out through a straw. I mean it's only your Japs eye for god sake .

Disclaimer jap's eye is not intended as a racist remark in anyway what so ever , it just so happens that the hole at the top of a man's penis has the same name as someone from Japan . Honest.

I can see the reasoning behind buying all of them (Don't necessarily agree with the decision but I can see the reasoning) with the exception of Babel. I simply cannot see the point of buying a striker and never playing him as one. People (Babelains mainly :D) have opinions on whether or not he's good enough, some like Stu are absolutely adamant that he isn't, but the truth is if he were to leave tmorrow you couldn't absolutely say for sure whether he is good enough AS A STRIKER because we've never really played him there.

FWIW I think we should sell him as he looks like he's chucked the towel in to me, but his signing for the kind of fee we shelled out (which at the time was a huge fee for us) and the subsequent lack of opportunity he's been afforded really is very odd.

My views too spot on mick we should let him go as i feel he never get the right treatment now at this club shame really we never know what type of player he could have been.

Wasn't treated with respect from rafa i think and played in his pref posistion.

a quick question , in fact two - when has babel ever been a striker ? He wasnt bought as one and never played as one and secondly what is this rubbish about rafa not respecting him ? ! It should be babel having to respect the boss . And finally when did liverpool fans start constantly slagging off their own players ? For years we ripped :censored: out of bs players or manc players but always supported our own i guess thats the internet for you .

11.12am, 29th December 2008. Might as well announce the results, I don't think anyone will catch the winner.

Y-Factor 2008 Result

Winner : Dossena (16 votes, 32.65% of the vote)
Runner-Up : N'Gog (8 votes, 16.33% of the vote)
Third : Degen (7 votes, 14.29% of the vote)

Degen came in third, a player who cost us nothing, but has done nothing but get injured.

N'Gog is runner-up, a surprise considering he's not had a lot of opportunities and perpetual wasters were also in the running

And the odds on favourite won as I guess we knew he would - Dossena. Liverpool's most expensive defender takes just under a third of the vote as this season's scapegoat. Fourth place was shared by Jermaine 'waste of space' Pennant, Lucas 'marmite' Leiva and £20.3m striker Robbie 'he'll come good' Keane

Babel will never get a fair crack of the whip under Rafa, I wouldn't blame him for leaving.

Rafa has his favourites, Dirk Kuyt!  I could understand it if Kuyt was a fantastic player but he is far from it - ordinary but hard working.

Still though he refuses to drop him even when he plays cack, I can't understand it.  Any wonder Babel is playing like he doesn't care.

We don't need ANY player who plays like he doesn't care regardless of who it is, if he wants to leave good riddance :nod
