Xabi did the right thing. Watching your son being born should be 1st priority over anything...well unless it was the CL final :D

He was the man that said football is more important than a matter of life and dead. And he was the man that asked if it was true he was going to cancel something due to a wedding celebration and he asnwered "do you think I'd marry during the season?" or something like that .

But at the end of the day Shankley realised that he neglected his family life for football and he had regrets because of it, so in the end thats the main reason he retired early.

I think Xabi was dead right to stay home, yeah sure he earns a fortune playing for us but at the end of the day money isn't everything!

I think Xabi was right, family is the most important thing in the world and it should always come first.  But of course we did miss him badly yesterday.

Who are we to judge a man's decision on something like this. Life and death. In this case, life.

Having a girlfriend/wife mad at you is worse than having Rafa mad at you.

He made the right decision.

Right decision anyway you look at it. Dont care how much he earns. Dont care the stakes of the game. He has an obligation to be there, and it shouldnt have to be a difficult choice to make in my opinion.
