Next time Xabi, fúck more in December, so that the kid is born in August. :D

Despite I think Xabi should have played, I don't think it should be a big problem for the future.

I think rafa is seriously out of order making this such a big thing.  My family always come first and I am this is the same for nearly everyone.  Why should it be any different for a footballer??

Xabi has been a model professional, has recently been showing some great form and is a critical component in the new winning way we have been set up, lets not screw it up by now dropping him because he wanted to be with his girlfreind in what will have been the most important day of his life.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

He's right.... no matter what, family comes 1st.

Nothing could have kept me away from the birth of Conn Jr and nothing is gonna keep me away when his sister is born in a few months time.

Find Xabi's decision a bit disappointing but understandable.

Xabi got his priorities right and it really shouldn't be questioned by anybody with an ounce of common sense.

What would you do?

Stay in Japan while your Father dies?  Go to Milan when your partner is about to give birth?

You know my answer.

A game of football just doesn't come into the reckoning where life (and death) are involved.

Funny how times change. There's no way my dad would have been in the room when my mother gave birth to us - "women's business" is probably how he'd describe it.

Men would stay in the pub have a few jars and wait for the phonecall.  As for changing nappies....

Sometimes I think I should be transported back to "ashes to ashes" i.e. 1981 at least i'd know we'd win the Euro cup that year.

I've no problem with what Xabi decided and I think he was 100% right. Family must always come first, should any problems have arisen during the birth he would have be devastated not to have been their with his missus supporting her.
Reina made exactly the same choice when his missus dropped their kid and no fuss was made over him missing a game.

Finally congratulations to Xabi and his missus on the birth of their 1st child.

Xabi was spot on. Football is only a game and shouldn't be put before family.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I definitely understand where people is coming from when they understand Xabi. I know it's hard to tell, but what would have said Shankly in this case?

He was the man that said football is more important than a matter of life and dead. And he was the man that asked if it was true he was going to cancel something due to a wedding celebration and he asnwered "do you think I'd marry during the season?" or something like that .

Xabi did the right thing and if Rafa is making a big thing out of this then he is bang out of order.

i don't suppose rafa will make a big deal out of this... he will be disappointed but he will understand... if xabi comes back to training and give 110% of his efforts in I'm sure it's business as usual between the two of them again... it's the press that's making a big deal out of it as usual IMO...

oh and xabi was right... family should come first...
