I wouldn't say Diouf was the worst signing. He was played out
of position and he did actually have one or two good games.
The problem with Diouf was the price. They saw us coming and
charged us a top player price of 10million for someone
who we should have got for a squad player price of £1million.
If we had of paid £1million for him, no one would dislike him
as much as they do right now. As for the real worst signings.....

Sander Westerveld. He stayed on his line for every cross or high ball
and never came out once. Not a big thing if you play in Spain or Italy,
but when you are in the Premiership and you have relegation fodder like
Leicester lamping it up in the air every five seconds, it tends to be a
problem when the keeper won't come off his line and command his box.
He was average in every way and should never have been a first choice
keeper of a team like Liverpool.

Nick Barmby. All the fuss you have to go through getting the fans to
except a dirty toffee signing putting on our beautiful red shirt, part
with 6mil and all you get is nothing. He was half decent with that blue
team, but beside one of two goals, he was a very very expensive mistake for us.
The guy is only 31 and only last season he was playing in League one (England's
Third Division) when you have the likes of Sheringham who are still in the Premiership
at 40. Says it all doesn't it??

Abel Xavier. Another dirty toffee. Funny thing is, I can forgive people
thinking that Barmby might have something to offer having won caps for
England but what I can work out is, how did this guy ever play in the
premiership and for Portugal too??? He was just one of those strange
elements that made it being a professional footballer when other better
players with much more talent didn't. What the hell he was doing at Anfield
still confuses me. I think Everton are still laughing about how they got us to
take him off their hands. Buggers.

Harry Kewell. Ok, he is not the worst player ever to come to us, but considering
all the hype around this guy, we really have got nothing back. If I never see him
in a Liverpool shirt again, I won't be bothered and I don't think many other people
would be bothered either.

Rigobert Song. This one is a little unfair because you could never say he didn't try.
In fact, he tried his heart out but the problem was, he just wasn't good enough. Not
his fault for saying yes when a team like Liverpool came knocking. This is just another
one down to Houllier and his magical ability to sign players that everyone else thinks
are :censored:.

Best signings are............

Hyypia. Rock solid premiership quality defender for £2.6million??
Christmas came early the day we signed him.

John Arne Riise. Ok, he is not the best left sided midfielder or left
back you will ever see, but he is a good player and under the right
manager (Benitez) he plays a pretty good game.

I would also like to point out that people shouldn't be too hard on
Diomede and Biscan. I felt Biscan showed his quality under Benitez
after losing all confidence under Houllier. Diomede has been ok since
leaving LFC and the Houllier life drain grip.
