Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Ive no problem with the boys from Brazil. They`re keeping the banter within the relevant forums so its not a problem at all.But they should remember that insulting the English national team has no effect on most of us as we dont give a toss. We`re Liverpool, not England.

Fifa didn't, but now it does!

Ok,you`ve finally got my point at last.Liverpool fc never took the match seriously because it wasnt under FIFA`s jurisdiction. An Argentinian defender could break Kenny Dalglish`s leg and there was nothing FIFA could do about it.Why would a European club take a match like that seriously. You cant have a "World Championship" match that only one of the teams cares about can you?Thats why few people(outside journalists on websites and S.America)consider the winners of that match to be World Champions.Liverpool were champions of Europe in 77,78,81,and 84.The World Champions of those years will never be known however. This years World Champions will.

Football is part of the society, an important part, but do not forget about learning some manners.

Don´t forget the insults agaisnt us some hundreds of posts back...

Unhappyly... our fellas on England demonstrate a little bit of disrespect too...

not just us...  :Oo:

However, I´m suprised with the education demonstrate by 99% of the users...

In fact, only Liverpool looked at the competition with disdain. Most part of other Europeans took the competition seriously. The championship is well balanced...13 victories for South Americans and 12 for Europeans.

1977 Boca Juniors
1978 No competition
1981 Flamengo
1984 Independiente

Honestly mate,it was never a competition. You need at least two sides to make a competition.

Not Really.

Fact: The winning of Champions League always conveyed that the trainer continued in the team in Barcelona and Madrid cases. Winning the intercontinental cup though, wouldn't be a reason enough to keep a questioned coach in the bench. I'm talking about La Liga here, but I think in England happens the same thing.

Another good example is training schedule. Teams do put starting elevens and give rests to players and work the game weeks before the CL final. For this cup though, they'd prepare it just the days before the event. We simply do not give much weight to this cup. But that's not because we do not consider American football, a la the Merkins used to do with the NBA

Note that it's not disrespecto to the South Americans, but the competition itself, and how it's done.
