Wolves v liverpool - We will win

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby supersub » Wed Jan 21, 2004 10:11 pm

Liverpool will win tonight, because anything less will plunge the club into further turmoil.Defeat at Spurs on Saturday showed that there is a serious lack of direction and the constant drip, drip of defeat is plunging Liverpool into the category of also-rans.Saturday,s lifeless performance with no-one to guide inspire or guide them reflected appallingly on an expensively-assembled team.
But it's the whole approach, the whole philosophy, that is driving even the deepest-dyed Reds to despair.
The best teams do not go out fearing the opposition. They go out believing that they are good enough to win, believing as Arsenal and Manu do,that attack is the best form of defence.
Sorry about the cliche, but the point needs to be made that this Liverpool team, even acknowledging their recent good run, seldom play like free spirits but, rather, like a team that is confused.O.K.,we all except that it is not possible to win tight matches with breathtaking football.Sometimes ugly is the best option.
But the soul of the team, particularly Liverpool teams, must be fired by a spirit of adventure,on edge-of-the-seat ideals.

A little bit of an article in the Daily Post today.

Houllier is proving more and more that he isnt cut out for this job, its the same mistakes over and over.
Do yourself a favour Houllier if you really do care about the club, leave and let a real manager take over the club.

the latest excue is (from liverpoolfc.tv)

Gerard Houllier bemoaned Liverpool's lack of clinical finishing at Molineux tonight and declared the Reds should have won the game 4-2.

The Anfield chief was frustrated to see his side held to a 1-1 draw against struggling Wolves.

Bruno Cheyrou opened the scoring for Liverpool three minutes before half-time only for Kenny Miller to equalise with a goal in the final minute.

Houllier told Liverpoolfc.tv afterwards: "We lacked clinical finishing tonight. I would say a fair reflection of the game should have been 4-2 to us. We created some excellent chances. Emile and Michael had great chances in the first half and Danny Murphy missed two sitters."

And on the goal that robbed the Reds of maximum points an angry Houllier added: "I am very annoyed with the referee because it wasn't a corner and I am very frustrated. I don't know why the referee gave a corner but we have to be disappointed with ourselves as well. The players were angry that a corner was given but we should have forgot about that and kept our concentration. We were nervous at times."

maybe we should have won 4 -2 but we didnt did we. Im fed up of the excuses. He should f##k off and close his door on the way out

The point is he bemoans bad finishing but its been the same problem for over a year he should have sorted it out but he has failed yet again.

Houllier you are a loser face it you are not cut out for this job.

Just got back from the game and again i'm absolutely gutted and can't find the words to describe our heartless performance which is now becoming the norm!

Houllier must take responsibility for these performances - its not just a one-off - and it can't continue, nothing more than a miracle now will save his job and i don't see him pulling off any miracle! !

(ps: its gutting to concede a last minute goal in any game but when you're in the wolves end when their fans are jumping all over you is double gutting!)

I just got back and I am very down and disappointed with the performance tonight , We had what MOST fans would say is our STRONGEST 11 playing for the whole of the 2nd half and sat on a 1-0 lead, gave possession far too easily back to Wolves and I watched Wolves (A Poor side in truth) grow in confidence as the game went on. When we did seem to want to play to be truthful we tore Wolves apart and really should have added at least 1 more goal but it was all too infrequent, not pretty to watch and poor value for another £29 and a 160 mile round trip.

I always look for a positive when it gets this bad annd Steve Gerard and Steve Finnon were superb tonight .

TO LOSE A ONE NIL LEAD TO ANY TEAM IS UNACCEPTABLE SEEN AS WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAMS IN THE PREMIERSHIP
WHEN PLAYING A TEAM LIKE WOLVES WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR 4,5,6,7 -0 WIN

OVER 99% OF FANS ON THIS FORUM AND OTHERS AGREE THAT CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE
CAN THE OTHER 1% NOT YET SEE THIS OR ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT UNTILL WERE IN THE SAME POSITION AS WOLVES BEFORE THEY AGREE
BY CHANGES I MEAN MANAGEMENT AND HIGHER

WE CAN BLAME PLAYERS
WE CAN BLAME INJURIES

BUT THATS JUST PUTTING UP WITH THE s##t(EXCUSES) WERE BEING TOLD
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE
