Wild sissoko - Please explain

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby MaxBoida » Wed Feb 01, 2006 1:30 pm

A bit of enlightenment needed here everyone.
Can anyone tell me whats the story with Momo? He seems like a bit of a wildman to me. From what I've seen he's had a heap of cards and frequent nasty looking tackles.

Clearly though he is doing a good enough job to maintain fairly regular starts.

Whats the verdict on this guy?

The lads got alot of potential. When he improves his weaknesses he'll be a good player for us. He's done well so far, sloppy in possession though and dives into tackles far to often.

Needs to learn a bit more about the tactical side of the game, improve his short passing skills and learn not to dive in all the time. Very raw, but certainly been a good addition. :)

Agree stu, he also has alot of energy and never gets tired, he keeps on trying! even if he loses the ball he runs after it and takes it back!

Energetic young lad!  :D

A positive first thread is usually a good idea...
:D

Anyway, I reckon he could be the next Patrick Viera.  He'll definitely mature and with the right coaching he could be a great player.  He's certainly got the athleticism and the desire...and if he scares a few opponents in the process all the better.

A big call there, but I reckon you might be right. He had clearly impressed Rafa enough to be both recruited and played!
I do hope we're not gearing up for another Cherou though.
Looks like sissoko could be gearing up to Didi's role in the team, which, as we have seen (Keane and Viera) can devastate a team

(looks like it could be a short post) :D

Vieira?

Oh come on get real, he's nowhere near Vieira's class. Vieira was as good at as Xabi at the same age if not better. Sissoko is nowhere near and will never be anywhere near that level of player. As good as he is, to label him that is rediculous.

Momo knows that the Epl is more physical than the other countries he's played in,my personal opinion is he's over compensating for that at the moment .He got to learn to get the right balance ,and he's not doing that at the mo,but that will come. He also has to improve his distribution but , i think that will come with age.He is an excellent addition to the squad imo and can only get better with the type of players he's playing with in midfield at the moment.

He looks like Djimi Traore on speed.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

He is the exact player we need in the squad. If there has been one thing we've been lacking in the past is the need for some midfield steel. Sissoko provides that, Hamann is able to do so but is getting on and less likely to be as energetic as Sissoko. He needs improvement with choice of tackle, etc but all in all a decent addition to the squad

Alonso and Gerrard don't provide steel? ???

Can't agree with that at all.

How can you say he will never be as good as Vieira!? At 21 Vieira was a virtual nobody, 'one for the future' at best. Sissoko has years ahead of him. All he needs is the right training and direction. Even now Vieira is by no means the most skillfull or elegant player but he excells in his role with persistence. Bloody hell he picked up 8 reds in the premiership and consistently got yellows, it took him years to perfect the player he is now.

Why can't Sissoko do the same thing?

Sissoko has every chance to be the player Vieira is, to say he hasn't is ridiculous

Alonso and Gerrard can provide steel when needed but yo can hardly catagorise them as tacklers. They aren't the same players as Vieira, Hamann, Sissoko, Gravesen, Keane, are they? Alonso and Gerrard are more creative players, their jobs are different.

Please Don't use the term
He could be the new (whoever)
Sissoko is Sissoko and always will be
To many players have had these labels given to them
and failed because of pressure from the media.
Anyway
Good addition to our squad
Needs to learn his trade a little better
great prospect
