Personally I think when you have a change of manager and coaching staff there is always the chance of injury. If you think about it logically then many of our players have been probably undergoing a similar training regime for the last four years, so their bodies will be used to that way of training, when a new manager comes in and the training regime changes I think all the players bodies will react differently and it could easily explain why some pick up injuries in training or in games.
One thing that I've always found bizarre is that when substituted, players then go and sit in the cold on the bench for the rest of the game, the sitting position must surely allow their calves and hamstrings to tighten. To me if a player is brought off the field early for a rest I think they should go straight down the tunnel to a hot bath or for a good massage to prevent the muscles tightening and thus reduce the risk of injury.
Just a thought like.
