Why do so many dislike garcia?

In some of the threads there are calls for Garcia to be put on the bench and people calling him :censored: and such like. I just don't understand it. I mean i know he has a tendancy to give the ball away but that could be said about half of our starting line up. I think he is one of our most natural goal scorers and to play without him would dent our goalscoring prospects.

mmmm, Garcia has GREAT potential but it's like, 7 out of 10 of the things he does are unnecessary and completely unavoidable if he JUST played it SIMPLE, then he would be AWESOME!!

Don't get me wrong, he was so fundamental for us in the Champions League last year, and I am grateful to him for that.

I don't think anybody hates him or dislikes him, I actually think he is very well liked and loved in Liverpool, but we all get SOOOO frustrated with his school boy errors, it's annoying!!

To be honest i have only seen highlights, but what i will say is time and time again his name crops up on the score sheet when our out and out strikers do not. I'm not saying that is the be all end all but it counts for a lot.

i don't dislike the guy, he's just the most frustrating player i've seen in a liverpool shirt for years. the guy's just not capable of passing the ball five yards to another red shirt.

however the guy's ability to produce something out of the ordinary makes him a vital asset to our side. look at his goals last season against juventus, spurs and charlton for example.

If Rafa can get him to be more cautious in and near his own half, then he'd be fantastic. Without being funny, I can pass the ball better over 10 yards than him! But the talent he possesses is unreal. It's the balance he lacks.

He can be described as a "Time bomb" on the field.

That is the problem everyone has with him, but to be fair to Rafa he has stated this week that he is trying to make Garcia realise when the right time to do his little flicks and turns.
He is frustrating alot of the times, but is one of our most dangerous attacking players, and although he hasnt featured as much this season has already scored 3.
I think he is at his best playing just off the striker in a central role, and with FSP pn the right the interchanging between the two can be really effective (Like the first half against betis)
Luis will score between 10-15 goals no problem this season, so i am happy to put up with some of the frustrating things he does.

Rafa's got the ability to identify players' weaknesses and coach them out.  Garcia will get better as the season goes on, you can bank on it.  We should be careful about knocking flair players because they aren't ruthlessly efficient.  That's their nature, we'd complain if we had eleven Hamann's in the team.  He needs to be more careful with his short passing game, but we can't insist on his pass completion being 100%.  He's a top player, if we encourage him to express himself he'll grow and grow.

It's an interesting thread and one which as a confirmed Garcia fan, I considered starting myself to be honest. I think he's a fabulous footballer, one of the best players we have at the club and though admittedly he can be an annoying little bugger at times is well worth sticking with.
His goal on Saturday perfectly illustrated what he is all about. It's not about the finish, though it was a crisply struck first time shot with the right foot. It's all about the run, begun as the ball is on its way to Gerrard, before the capptain looks up. Similarly, his goal away to Betis which was crisply struck first time with his left foot, was all about the run he made accross the defender, begun just as Zenden was about to turn with the ball. He's a good guesser, a gambler on a football pitch with his movement.
In terms of him giving the ball away, I think the majority of this is caused by his failure to fully adapt to the physical nature of English football as of yet. I had hoped that he would have made more progress on this front this season but so far he doesn't seem to have. That said, given his frailty his goalscoring record from a starting position of wide right (usually) is nothing short of remarkable.

As an add on and to confirm that he is a footballer who is riddled with contradictions (I have commented before on the fact that despite looking for all the world like he would be best employed just playing off the front man, his best games for us have come when he has played wide-left. He is right-footed), did you see the header against Birmaingham from the corner? For only a small guy he has got good spring and like the puzzling Nunez is much better in the air than you would imagine.

In a good sense yes  :D
He can score amazing goals and play amazing passes, but he has another side to his game where he mistimes tackles and gives the ball away.
I still love the guy, he is going to guarrantee us over 10 goals a season and probably at crucial times :D
