Danny Murphy will take the spotters if hes in the team, but even though he has been a great servant to the club and you've gotta respect the guy after seeing those photos of his woman, if Danny is in the first team next year we won't win the league.

Injuries aside, i'd definitly go with Owen.  hopefully it'll be a good race between Owen, Cisse, and Baros....lots of goals, no injuries :)

I've gone for Owen, although given the chance I'm sure Baros will run him close. I hope Benitez doesn't hold Cisse back as a target man for aerial balls from midfield, as from what I've seen he's well capable of 15+ in his first season.

Good point on who'll take the pens though, as I'm assuming Murphy won't get too much of a look in this season. That being the case, do we know what Cisse and Baros' spot-kick form's like?

Brian Clough in 442 praised Owen for his Im taking one attitude in the shootout against Portugal.  Im alwaysnervous watching Owen take a pen but reckon he will get the nod

Ok I vote for Kirkland, probably not though, because he will have a couple of months out injured!!

Can we please think logically about future posts, and stop making them up for the sake of a new post!!!

I think Cisse will run hot early on in the season. Then as defenders pay him more attention, it will free up some space so needed by Owen and then we will really have two strong options up front.
Reckon Cisse to hit 20+, Owen closer to 30 and Baros chipping in another 15+.

Oh so look forward to August... :;):

Cisse will come out tops. 30+ for him.

blimey. that would be the most sensational debut season in the history of premiership football. even the likes of henry couldn't hit a barn door when he first came over here.

if cisse gets 15-18 goals then that will be a good first season for him.

If Owen stays, then there is no question, he will be top scorer as he will be first choice (for better or for worse).

Also, I think Benetiz' playing style may suit Owen, and Owen is due a bit of luck with injuries. I reckon Owen will get 20-23 in all competitions.

(Pure guess work here) Cisse will be next but he needs a season to settle in and expecting 20+ from him is probably unrealistic. However, he should get 15-18 in all competitions.

Next will be Baros, but I doubt if things will change much for him at Anfield as I think Benetiz will go with Cisse and Owen as first choice. I see Baros getting 10-12 in all competitions and then leaving in search of first team football.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Stu's poll: our three front men could have a terrible time with injury and someone like Kewell could be top scorer. You just don't know.

Owen all the way. He can manage to score at least 20 plus if he stays healthy. Second should be Cisse and then followed by Kewell and Baros.

I hope Cisse does well but I don't see him outscoring Owen.

i have faith that michael owen will finally be able to shake off his injury worries this season and play a full season. in all fairness, his injury last year was extremely unfortunate against arsenal. it was due to landing awkwardly with all his bodywieght on one leg and consequently twisting his knee. before this, all his injuries were merely from sprinting, which was extremely worrying.

It would have to be Owen - getting at least 24 in the league.
Couple that with Cisse getting at 18, and Baros getting at least 12.  If this happens, we'd be well on our way to being 2nd, if not winning the league!!! :D

This would only happen if there was a miraculous tranformation in the supply of quality passes!
