In my quick observation, during the Houllier's regime, Gerrard and Hamann were the executors of most free kicks taken (directed to the net). We have also seen some fantastic free kicks taken by Murphy and Riise.
When you assume that Houllier had made some misjudgment e.g. in assessing Biscan's position; having us playing too defensively; keeping Heskey "irreplaceable", etc., there must have been some chances where he was also mistaken in pointing out who's to take free kicks on a regular basis.

Now, in your opinion, who should bear the responsibility to take most free kicks awarded?

Can Cisse take them well? I don't know.
Riise is clearly capable of some good uns, as is Murphy. I think it's good we have a choice.

Personally I think we lack a real free kick specialist. Sure Riise and Murphy have come up with the odd good one ,but on a regular basis ? .
When the likes of Beckham takes a free kick you are really anticipating a result, with our lads your hoping for one . :(

last season i didn't agree with gerrard taking all the free kicks, especially from wide areas. to me he would score significantly more goals if he tried to get on the end of them. people underestimate gerrard's ability in the air. i think that aspect of his game is very underrated. during the treble season i remember him heading a couple in from gary mac deliveries (against coventry and tranmere).

gary mac's advantage was that whether shooting or crossing, he always put the ball on a sixpence time in time out. we scored so many goals from his quality balls. we've never really replaced him. hamann scored a blinder at fulham a few years back but hits the wall too much. same with gerrard and riise.

But will Murphy be on the pitch?

Riise is a good choice. Don't know if Cisse can bend a ball either.

I'm actually a fan of Kewell's free kicks.  He takes them for Aus when they're a realistic chance of scoring from that position and he can dip and curve the ball very well, the only problem is he has a bit of a tendency to hit it a bit high.  He still is very good with free kicks though.

I would say Riise. But you guys have more informations than me on most of the LFC players. Although I can say that Cissé can give some good shoots eventhough he s a bit awkward and need to improve.
he used to shoot 50 % of the free kicks when he was at Auxerre

What do you think to Cisse emmanuel? Is he worth £14million?

i think we should vary the free taker so as not to be predictable. i would probly allow gerrard hamann and riise to take them
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

Definately Murphy, he has proven in the past that his is by far our best free kick taker. Just don't let riise near them because everytime he takes a free kick theres only two places it's going- in the wall or over the bar

what have you got against riise?

if you seriously think that traore is better than riise then i suggest you watch the two more closely. traore couldn't lace the guys boots.

riise has merely had a poor 18 months as have most of the team.

I voted for Murphy cos at least he can bend the ball but centre or left side of the area. If its the right side then Kewell or Riise would be the best bet.

I havent seen Cisse taking a free kick so I would'nt know.

I agree every anticipates a result when Beckhams taking a free kick but he p*sses me off as he needs about 10 chances for England before he scores one.
