Who out of best starting eleven should go - Coz we dont many

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby DAV » Sun Mar 28, 2004 3:37 pm

i think our best starting eleven is
Dudek/Kirkland i think they are both great
carragher left back
hypia
henchoz
and i suppose finnan coz its all we got really worth mentioning
hamman
gerrard
kewell
murphy
owen
baros

this bunch i kind of like but they cannot compete with the best
i think hamman because i believe the position he plays he worthless
hamman plays a negative role
if we were a half decent team gerrard would include his role as veira and keane do
also finnan not long here so ill give him a chance to prove himself
up front owen has no confedence
murphy is a good squad player but i would settle for a natural winger any day
(i dont mean diouf who is a forward and smicer)

Your English is shocking.

But apart from that...

I can see what you are saying. But i disagree with them not being able to compete. I think that team on paper is the joint third best in the league with Man Utd. Dont bother saying the game isn't played on paper because i know that and thats not my point. I think it would be possible with 2 or 3 replacements that we would have the quality to challenge for the league title and europe.

I can see what you are saying about Hamann. He is useful though and there would be games we would need him. I'd personally like to see him replaced with someone like David Dunn or Joe Cole. A hard working player with flair, vision and skill.

Gerrard is a different player to Vieira. Vieira is the same sort of player as Hamann but miles better. Gerrard isn't really a holding player but i agree we don't need one. Keane played a similar game to Gerrard a few years ago and he and Scholes shared the responsibilities and i think this is what we need to do in order to move forward.

I also agree with your assement of Murphy.

Keep Kirkland and Dudek
RB-Carragher
LB-new signing
CD-Hyypia
CD-new signing
RM-new signing
LM-Kewell
CM-Gerrard
CM-new signing
Forwards- 2 new signings!

The only way that we are going to compete with Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea is to buy top quality proven players and not players who have potental or are the new Zidanes!
p.s we also need a new manager

Firstly the shitty diamond formation is where we're going wrong. A flat 4-4-2 would get us so many more points. We always play our best when we play a flat 4-4-2.

I think you have your right and your left mixed up.

Owen should not be sold.

Diamond formations,4-4-2,wing backs, none of it really matters when you have a tactically inept manager who has an inability to extract the best from his players.

houllier has become a joke. he blamed the draw at leicester on tiredness and the fact we played with ten men for 60 minutes. yeah right.

Starting a sentance with 'But' could be described by some as shocking English but that is probably a discussion for a different type of forum!

4-4-2 is the only formation.
I see the first 11 as:
                              GK: Kirkland
Defenders: Carragher, (vacant), Hyypia, Riise
Midfield:   (vacant), Gerard, LeTallec, Kewell
Forward:               (vacant), Owen

Yep my english cr#p coz i live in yorkshire i guess.
Well at least i aint only one who sees that even our best team has a weakness.
Question is how do we sort this

a)keep Houlier and hope to god he reads this forum and takes notes from us lot
b)get a new manager and hope for a clear out
c)all of us stop watching football and start supporting a baseball team

I would be reluctant to sell any player who would make our best XI as they should just move down to the subs bench.

I'd stick with the following players for the time being and sell the rest with a view to buying replacements with the proceeds. That doesn't mean I think all these players have proven themselves, just that I'd avoid wholesale changes.

GK - Kirkland, Dudek
CB - Hyypia, Henchoz, Traore
FB - Carragher, Finnan, Vignal, Riise
MF - Gerrard, Hamann, Kewell, Le Tallec, Smicer, Murphy
CF - Owen, Baros, Pongolle

That means IMO we should get shot of - Luzi, Biscan, Diao, Diarra, Cheyrou, Diouf and Heskey. We'd have to buy at least four players to maintain a decent squad size
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
