John Barnes, in his peak (i.e. 1987 to 1990) had an almost Maradona quality to him. Some of the goals he scored in the 1987-88 season were magnificient. Back then he had power and pace to ally to his skill and intelligence.
Peter Beardsley was a superby gifted player, but sadly we never really saw the best of him in a Liverpool shirt. He was great in 1987/88, but found himself on the bench a lot in 1988/89. He went on to do great things at Everton and then Newcastle: I cannot understand why Souness sold him.
Of course, the most complete player was Daglish. Had Fowler been born 12 or 13 years earlier, him playing alongside Daglish would have been incredible. Liverpool would have been unstoppable......(er, brain to JBG, they actually were unstoppable!
