Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby woof woof ! » Wed Jul 07, 2004 3:48 pm

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling for the guys head BUT if I had just taken over the worlds greatest club (no not the one in Soi Cowboy,Bangkok) I would be showing a bit more profile and letting the fans know something about me and my plans for LFC..........Does the lack of info from Rafa regarding his plans for our future mean that he hasn't made any yet ?.
Am I being to concerned. ????

I think i prefer a manager who goes about his business in a quiet manner.Do we really want to broadcast our plans like chelsea or madrid?

Yeah...there'a dignity to his silence, he's probably working hard behind the scenes and he's gonna pull of a massive transfer coup that nobody saw coming.

I'd love that.

He already helped convince Gerrard to stay.

Although i'm dying to hear about some new signings i'm hoping Rafa is a no-nonsense, no hype, get on with it type of a manager. I got a little tired of the way GH over-used the media towards the end of his reign. We often used to hear about a new signing several weeks before they finally arrived. I'm sure that helped inflate the price on some occasions.

The big problem with GH was his love of doing stuff thru and in the media.

It will make a refreshing change to have a gaffer who signs stealth like, rather than telling the newspapers we are intrested and seeing the price explode (Biscan anyone).

I haven't heard a peep from him yet. He's probably to busy dealing with agent and the like to even bother with the press pack. It's also gone very quiet on transfer rumours, is this because there's no news coming out of anfield and it's all hush hush.

I'd rather put up with this hush-hush approach and then see Benny unveiling some good signings rather than the fan fare of the just departed gaffer who promised that his signing "will have the fans on the edge of their seats"...I believe they did, but instead of on the edge of their seats cheering on the excitement, it is more on the edge of their seats tearing hairs out in frustration...

I recently read in a non-football forum, in a thread on Euro 2004 that one comment was that after watching the Greeks play such defensive football, this person now "understand what the Liverpool fans feel like after watching their live games"!

I thoroughly agree with the posts above.

We have had five long years of GH wining and dining the media. He was in the papers more frequently down here in London than any of the local club managers. He did the club a great disservice with nauseating articles about himself and how he was on the brink of winning titles and the CL. It was downright embarrassing.

It is refreshing to hear or read anything emanating from our new manager's office. After years of dreadful mismanagement by GH, he has a massive job on his hands.

It really is like a breath of fresh air after the reign of mad, mad Houllier.
