I think its a total disgrace that the Directors will not relinquish control to any old American/Eastern European Millionaire who wants to "buy a franchise". Who do these people on hte board think that they are?

I want to sell our soul to the highest bidder as soon a s possible. Who cares about values and honour when you can have Del Horno for £18M and all that.

I demand that the board takes the very next offer.

Its not about selling our soul Leon its about keeping upm with the rest of the clubs arounds us so that we can maintain out status as an elite side.

Im not saying that we need a russian billionaire but we need something and soon. The board have done ok to back Rafa in this transfer window and there may well be more players on the way but can we assume they will back him should he need that sort of money this time next year?

I dont see that happeing without any significant investment seing as were apparantly £70 odd million in debt.

Im just hoping that something is in the pipeline and the board members are doing things behind the scenes.

        Guess we know where Leon and most other rightminded people stand.

The continued lack of investment is however developing into a major worry and our lack of cash has certainly impacted on Rafa's efforts to push the team to higher levels .

Arsenals new stadium looks fantastic and the increased revenue it will provide is going to make them an even bigger force in the premiership. We need to compete just as fiercly off the field as we do on it or face getting left behind . Having said that , I certainly wouldn't want some russian gangster of american cowboy to take us over . I don't know what the anwer is but one certainly needs to be found.

Heres an interesting article. Got it from newsnow.

The new season started last weeked with Arsenal playing in their fantastic stadium which got me thinking... Can we afford so stay at Anfield bearing in mind our three main contenders?

Man united can cram in an extra 30,000 more fans in a week than we can and Arsenal 15,000 more. At the average seat price of £30 per seat Arsenal would make £10 million plus more than us on gate receipts alone and that's even before you go down the thousands of extra corporate seats.

These extra returns effectivelty pay for an extra player in the summer as well as giving us a new great stadium and allowing more fans to get to the games.

Obviously the process costs a fortune and is very lengthy but there must be things we can do to speed the process up. How about something I saw a while back someone suggesting that we let people put their names on a brick to be built into the fabric of the stadium and charge a £100 a time or similar? I bet there would be plenty of takers on that..

So the question is …not can we afford a new ground…but can we afford not to have a new one…just something to think about on a Monday afternoon

Sadly for any prospective buyer Mr Moores is firstly & most important to us, a fan. That puts him in a bad position because if he sell's he wants to know that the club is in better hands than his, because he'll want to be there week in week out enjoying his decision. Also because he's a fan he overprices the club, this coupled with the money that Houllier lost him makes him reluctant to sell for less than he wants. Mr Moores is very much like Deadly Doug at Villa. He loves the club & the club is part of his life. His job & that of his friends & family are at Liverpool this makes the future of the club so very important to him.

David Moores don't have to sell this club for this club to progress....He should sack parry and hire me as the new CEO  :p

Seriously...if the marketing dept (or the marketing staff at this club)...just markets this club in south east asia, millions of $$$ will rack in. Its that easy... But why isn't the board moving in that direction ???

Jersey Investors see Newcastle as a good investment, why not Liverpool. Are Moores and Parry really trying to bring in investment, or are they putting so many restrictions in place that no one wants to invest.
Aston Villa have found themselves a billionaire who for a few quid more ,(In billionaire terms :D  )  could have bought into a great club.
I am not expecting or even wanting an Abramovich but surely with the right approach and incentives ,investors should be queing up. We are the most successful English club, both in Europe and at home. We are the only english club to win a european trophy this millenium. We have recent success we have the players and the manager and there is massive room for improvement commercially.

The LFC brand is far from a turn off. It's one of the most recognised brands in the world. The turn off for investors is the price being demanded by the club.

In simple terms you wouldn't buy an apple for 4 quid when you could buy a banana for 50 pence.

totally agree with what your saying as we are falling massively behind on gate money and revenue. Also would it not be easier to try and pay off the residents in the current Anfield area as i am sure that we have already accumalted a fair amount of money which would of got put forward to the stadium.Because i would be very dissapointed if we had to move from our fortress. If we did extend the current site we could increase main stand and Anfiled Road stand, im sure that in itself is another generate another £10 odd million give or take..what are your views...

We have the same case at our club, yes I know where not one of the top teams in the Premiership, but surely we are more attractive than Pompey.

I think Moores is like Kenwright, not looking for investment as they class it as its their club and they both want to keep control of them.

On a positive note though, at least we won't be in the :censored: once these mega rich people get bored and pull their money out of the club. It would probably take Chelsea about 2 hours to go bust if Abramhovic pulls out of Chelsea. :D

LIVERPOOL are still on target to fund a new Anfield stadium, despite losing preferred bidder status for a crucial £9m grant.

Chief executive Rick Parry has moved to reassure fans, after the Reds were knocked off pole position for the European grant.

"We don't feel this is a setback in any way," he said. "We are aware that by September there will have to be further assurances of funding, which we are confident we will provide.

"The money has not been taken away and we are still confident of our position."

The programme monitoring committee, which allocates European funding worth £9m, wanted evidence Liverpool could come up with the £190m needed to build a new stadium.

Liverpool submitted written assurances, but no cast-iron proof.

"We understood we had to provide written assurances, which we have done. Further assurances are needed by September and we are satisfied that will be done."

Yesterday's verdict has cast doubt over £9m European cash and the additional £9m regeneration money that would come with it.

Although Objective One and the NWDA will not pay for the 60,000-seater ground, they will fund regeneration of deprived Anfield and Breckfield, including Stanley Park's refurbishment.

Without their money, Liverpool could still build the stadium, but would have to find the £18m from a private source.

Cllr Flo Clucas, executive member for Europe, said: "From being the preferred bidder for this funding, the club now has to compete with a number of other schemes.

"The club has had 18 months to bring forward proposals. It is time for the club to put up or shut up."

Whoever gets the £9m Objective One money must have spent it by the end of 2008 or it will be sent back to Brussels. Objective One officials are worried if Liverpool takes the money without giving a concrete guarantee, the stadium scheme will fall through and the cash will be lost to Merseyside.

The future of the council's regeneration plans for Anfield and Breckfield would then be in serious doubt. Council chief executive Colin Hilton said: "It does not mean the new stadium will not be built, but Liverpool will have to come up with much greater assurances in the next few weeks that the private funding is in place."

A spokesman for Liverpool FC said: "We are perfectly satisfied with the outcome today and understand the deadlines that lie ahead."

Doesnt sound great, chance that we may lose up to £18million of funding :(

Rick Parry - Errr I am sorry we dont really want to sell the club we just want someone to invest in the club.
S@int - I see, so how much do you want me to invest?
Rick Parry - How much have you got?
S@int -Quite a lot
Rick Parry - Well thats how much we would like then.
S@int - Whats the money going to be used for?
Rick Parry -Building a new stadium and if there is anything left buying a couple of players
S@int - Great, can I pick the players?
Rick Parry - Errr no thats the managers job
S@int - So I am not the manager then?
Rick Parry - No, Rafa's the manager
S@int - So about the stadium, how much do you need ?
Rick Parry - About £200Million give or take a few million
S@int - No problem, we can build it near were I live, call it the S@int Arena, and then it will be easy for me to get there.
Rick Parry - Errr we already have a site picked out in Liverpool and we are going to call it New Anfield.
S@int - I dont live in Liverpool
Rick Parry - Oh so your an oot then?
S@int - Yes, why is there a problem?
Rick Parry -Not as long as you have the money, no.
S@int - So basically all you are looking for is an investor, who will have no real say in the club.
Rick Parry - Yes thats right
S@int -So how much do I get back for my investment?
Rick Parry - Well that depends
S@int - Depends on what exactly?
Rick Parry - Well it depends on how well the club does
S@int -So if the club wins the League I get a lot of money?
Rick Parry - Well no because we will have to invest the money in the future stars of the club.
S@int - And I cant pick the future stars of the club?
Rick Parry - No thats the manager and his team of scouts job.
S@int - OK, but as Chairman I will want to see better commercialisation of the club
Rick Parry - Errrr Mr Moores is the Chairman
S@int -So I cant pick the team but I can help pay for the players, I cant pick where the stadium is built or its name but I can pay for it, I will have no control over the direction the club moves regarding commercial ventures but I can pay for it. I may at some future unspecified date ,receive an unspecified amount, but only if the club is successful and we dont happen to need any new players at that time, which is unspecified.
Rick Parry - Thats right
S@int - What times the train to Newcastle?

:D

Thats about ther long and the short of it Saint  :D

You've answered your own question there sonny  :D

There was supposed to have been a meeting Thursday 23/11/06,to consider 4 bids, and sort out who was going to be the prime bidder. Anyone heard anything thats come out about it ?  I know its a big decision, but it didnt take Tony Blair this long to sell Britain to the Yanks.
