So you like Rijkaards nice flowing football :)

And you think he could import it to Liverpool Football Club with the current set of players and a couple of signings.

But with what players does Rijkaard this kind of football?

Eto'o and Torres can be considered of the same league. Right. When they don't have Eto'o or we don't have Torres, look at the second options. They have a guy named Henry. Just like Kuyt eh? When they don't have those, you have Bojan, full of quality youngster, he'll be a very important name these years. Then they have Gudjohnsen, not a great striker, but of the same league of Voronin. And for some friendlies they use a former Bilbao striker, Ezquerro.

Behind them you have the likes of Iniesta, Xavi. They're quality. They can even afford to have Ronaldinho in a lazy mood because they'll put on the pitch a midfield capable of beating anybody.

And in the defence? do they they have to use an Arbeloa with no many games in the CB? No. When they don't have Puyol and THuram, both internationals, then they bring a very good CB, Milito. And if all those fail, they don't have to look at Barcelona B, they still have Marquez, the mexican.

Puroresu, Barcelona, with that squad, they have no other option than doing showy football. Because they're not the kind of players that tackle, track back and fight. They have to have most of the possession. If they failed to do this, they'd lose a lot of games.

If you think you can import that kind of football without importing that kind of players, then I disagree. You need more than a manager for playing that kind of football. Which, BTW, was beaten by our defensive rigour yesteryear, and is quite below Real Madrid as we speak. Their squad have both depth, and quality, mate. We can compete with them, and reaching CL finals like them, because we're (or we used to be) a top team as a collective. Don't get me wrong we also have Gerrard, Alonso, Mascha Torres... but we don't have a great second option in the forward, and they can do rotations or more quality because they have more of those.

P.S. They have such an amount of quality players and so expensive it's insulting. You mention a lot, and you forget the likes of Messi.

The signing of Royston Drenthe to fly down the left wing!

That would lift myself personally and also the crowd!

Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

clearly you didnt see the pre season friendly against Feyenoord when Drenthe went round kicking everything in a red shirt, he would  be about as welcome at Anfield as another American owner

I say we take a leaf out of the Geordies book....

and appoint a "retro" manager, let bring back Dalgliesh.

While we're at it bring back the Crown Paints classic Kit, or we could all put on curly wigs & tashes

:p
