What was alonso booked for? - They didn't show it on espn.

Hey, it surely isn't good news that Xabi was booked, but they never showed what exactly happened close up.
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

he was adjudged to have brought down a chelsea player on the break but (although i'm obviously biased) it really didn't look like a free kick. hed was booked cos of where the ball was and the state of play rather than the challenge itself

he will now miss the 2nd leg  :(

They've just shown the replay from a better angle on Sky, not only was it never a free kick but Gudjonssen should've been booked for a CLEAR DIVE

It was a bullsh*t booking. Alonso didn't even touch Gudjohnson. That booking should totally be appealed.

I believe supersub said that this was going to happen....

Well not pleased with it but we need to come through without Xabi as we have in the past.

UEFA will never rescind the yellow :(

Anyone know if Hamann is likely to be fit? Otherwise it's time for Igor to really shine

Stevie said Hamann is almost ready now...but I would still take Alonso any day

the only positive i can see from it is that he will definitely be in the final if we make it.

Chelsea are a bunch of cheating ******, no wonder Xabi was livid - I always thought Gudjohensen was one of their reepectable players, obviously I thought wrong.

lets batter the ****** tw@ts at Anfield!

Yeah, anyone know the procedures of apealng a uefa call??  If Alonso got a yellow for his challenge then Kezman should have had a straight red ~!!    But then again I remember thinking of mourinho-like tactics, and this was definitely one of them.

I thought the referee made a bad mistake when he gave the yellow card. We must appeal. Alonso is our best and most important player. That referee could have ruined our chances

Scott, Guidjohnsen is one of their worst divers.

Judgin by Rafa's reaction it seems like we will appeal Xabi's yellow which should be overturned. On a positive note although its never good to lose ur best players Gerrard and Biscan have played well together in midfield when theyve had the chance, both Xabi and Gerrard had below their best performances tonight...Weve always won against the odds this season :) nothin stoppin us from going out and stuffin um agen
