I think we all agree on the back four and Reina of course is a given but the permutations for the midfield are a real puzzle .
I'm not sure whether to go with an ever improving Pennant or give an impressive Benayoun the nod for a couple of games at least .Over on the left is there any longer room for Harry Kewell ? Riise slots in effectively at LM , defensively minded , decent cross if he gets a bit of space and always capable of getting us off our seats with one of his blockbusters. Then there's Babel , young quick and tricky , also with a powerful shot , or should I forget all three of them , put Benayoun on the left which solves the problem of what to do with Pennant .
If sorting out the best wide men is a problem, who to pair with Gerrard is just as difficult.Normally I'd go with an on form Alonso BUT (and it's only my opinion) he hasn't exactly been at his best recently , good performances yes but no great ones .So it's down to Mascherano or Sissoko , despite the rave reviews Momo got from some members for his last couple of games I still think that technically he is miles behind a very very impressive Mascherano who gets my nod.
Up front . (christ my head hurts) Torres (obviously) and Kuyt. Kuyts had some stick from many and much of it deserved but I still feel that given a decent run together he a Torres would form our best strike partnership. TBH I wouldn't mind either of the other two lads bt for me Kuyts the best option.
So I'm left with.
. Reina
. Finnan Carragher Agger Arbeloa
. Pennant Gerrard Mascherano Benayoun
. Kuyt Torres
Of course there is the problem that pennant played one of his best games vrs derby and he played 40% of match up the left wing and looked very good : D
Would hardly call that a problem , in my 11 if Pennant went left Benayoun would go right.
