ok, question not so redundant now, but to say the title is gone due to stevie being out is an insult to the others who need to raise there game

Better news than I feared, with the international break he may only miss two matches. Hopefully back for Real Madrid ?

If it is only three weeks these are the games he will miss. Surely we are good enough to beat the first two without him and get a draw in Madrid.
To answer the question he is a massive loss to the team.

Saturday, 07 February 2009
Barclays Premier League
Portsmouth v Liverpool, 17:30

Sunday, 22 February 2009
Barclays Premier League
Liverpool v Man City, 15:00

Wednesday, 25 February 2009
UEFA Champions League
Real Madrid v Liverpool, R1, L1, 19:45

I would not rush him back and make sure he is 100% fit for these three. This is when we NEED him.

Come on, I know things don't look good but did we not beat United earlier this season with out both Gerrard and Torres?
Have a little faith and some optimisn. Many of you are far to negative to be Liverpool fans. We are suppsed to stick together and back the team.

It's times like this that it's glaringly obvious we lack serious quality in the team.

Rafa has shot himself in the foot by not bringing in anyone when it was obvious that we were already short on attacking options even with Gerrard.

Rafa has bought some good players but he has also bought a lot of second rate players like Pennant, Benayoun, Dossena, Riera, Lucas, Kuyt, Arbeloa and possibly Babel.

These players are not of the level required to take us forward.  We struggle to win games without Gerrard and Torres because many of the other players aren't good enough.

Man Utd can cope without one or two of their big boys because they have adequate replacements of good quality.  They have a very good squad, we don't.

sh*t could have done without that!! but at least it is only 3 weeks and should be back when we get to the tough games, just hope torres puts his feet up and gets a few days rest so that he is not dead on his feet after 45 mins we SHOULD have enough to play p/mouth and man city and win, i would take a draw in madrid right now

as for the topic to lose him full time / for a whole season would be catastrophic we would be in trouble as there is no other player that we have who can create the spark needed in midfield, if he were to leave and we HAD to find someone new there are players who create very well in midfield for there current teams but ( as like keane ) it does not mean they would do it if they came to us

OK so I guess Lucas and Kuyt are gonna step in and start scoring loads of goals are they or maybe the prolific Alonso and Mascherano? Where exactly do you see the goals coming from in the next few weeks, seeing as without Gerrard, Torres is completely isolated up front?

BTW I have absolutely no problem insulting Kuyt and Lucas but the rest of the team are good at what they do, just a shame that doesn't include scoring very often.

Of course I am not including Torres in this as he is way up there with Gerrard in my admiration.

Seriously that isn't nice, I do not revel in failure but I see the problem as rafa whilst others see the problem elsewhere.

Before the doomsayers write our title chances off completely, we have played well and beaten good teams this season and last without Gerrard and Torres.
The team plays a different type of game without our captain marvel, players who dissappear during matches when Stevie is on, take on the inititive when he isn't.
Think about this, we are drawing nil all at Anfield with 5 minutes to go, you have a chance to take a shot on but Stevie is screaming his head of for the ball. What do you do.
Answer: No matter how good you are 9 times out of 10 you give the ball to him because inevitably he delivers.
With Gerrard out for three weeks it allows player to take some responsibilty onto their own shoulders that they normally pass on to Gerrard.
Macherano for example was outstanding against Manure when Stevie was out, impressing so many people that it was suggested he could be a future captain, we don't see that side of him when Gerrard is on the pitch.

the rest of the team know there are eejits saying we havent got a chance.  think this could make them deadly. teams will underestimate us and we will win!!
