brilliant performance, if only we didn't have to sacrifice 3 points against the might of reading to achieve it

I wasn't happy to see Gerrard and Torres (our two best players by far) come off the pitch against Reading and i agree it was pretty much throwing the towell in BUT answer this.

If you were Rafa Benitez, you're team has just fallen two goals behind in away game with half and hour to play, on Tuesday you play away to Marseille in a game you MUST win and then the following Sunday you play your biggest rivals in another must-win game (if we have any real ambition of winning the title) oh and not to mention the fact any transfer plans you have in January and most likely, your job are also relient on winning these two games. Would you (perhaps) be tempted to do exactly the same thing, ie. take off your two best players and keep them fresh(er) for these two massive games? If it was your job hanging on the line? If your boss was coming over to France to watch the first game? and then both your bosses were going to be there to watch the 2nd game?

If we can beat the mancs on Sunday i'd say Rafa will feel (and deservedly so) quite vindicated for his decisions in the latter part of the Reading game. And i dare say several posters who were critical will probably agree in hindsight.

Where as you will probably retort with the kind of reluctant praise followed by the usual "but........." that you delivered in celebration of last night's result :no
