I think not
The crowd got fully behind the players and inspired them
And we all know what happened then...

Keep on standin an shouting on that crate lad :;): im listening

Booing at a match it is very destructive and not helpful to players who probably know theyre under performing.
But mostly as I say, it shows the supporters in a bad light.
Ill-educated and unrefined like knuckle dragging geordies or our developmentally disabled cousins from across the park
Far, far beneath the supporters of the best club in the world

Can anyone give a positive aspect to booing the team you support?

The board are not going to fire Rafa before the end of the season they cannot afford to pay him off until they get new investment and even though reports suggest that they have both come in to some money recently due to the sale of their other sporting interests, they have proved in the past that they value money above our club so here is no way that they are going to reach in to their own pocket when they still havn't settled on what their future in the club is going to be.
That being said the only thing we can do as fans is to support the team and the manager while we are in this run of form and hope he can sort it out fast and make the most of the january window to reshape his team.

Rafa's tactics against big clubs work amazingly well. When playing the top clubs in europe everyone fears us. Our results and performances against The best spanish and italian clubs and the top 4 speak for themselves. Even in our recent game against Arsenal we dominated the first half. The 4-2-3-1 gives us the strength in the middle of the pitch to cut out direct attacks and nullify the oppositions strongest playmakers. We counter well but sometimes don't get the kind of support needed to turn chances in to goals, possibly due to the lack of a creative force on the left wing. Even so, we usually get the results we need when playing against Major European sides.
The main problem is our performances against team we should be beating comfortably and even destroying. The 4231 formation I think shows the smaller teams too much respect, by sticking with a formation designed to contain the strongest midfields in Europe we are limiting not only the amount of attacking we can do in a game but also the amount of players we can commit to each attack. Players in holding roles are either under instruction to observe their positioning or are too far down the pitch to effectively contribute to the attack.
In my opinion when playing against teams who "On Paper" we are better than in every area of the field we should play a standard 4-4-2 and match them man for man around the park and use our talent and teamwork to outplay them.

I personally think Rafa will come good and support him throughout this. I have my opinions on who should be sold and who we should look for to strengthen certain areas but I guess we are just going to wait for Jan.

I would personally recommend that anyone booing at the match be identified and kept behind after the game, photographed and their picture displayed online for all to see.
Just to help them realise how pi'ssed off the rest of us were with their performance...

Good first post that mate. I don't agree with much of it but welcome to the site anyway, you'll enjoy it on here.

This season our record against the bigger teams is

Chelsea (A) Lost 2-0
Man Utd (H) Won 2-0
Aston Villa (H) Lost 3-1
Arsenal (H) Lost 2-1
Spurs (A) Lost 2-1
City (H) Drew 2-2
Birmingham (H)  ??? Drew 2-2
Lyons (H) Lost 2-1
Lyon (A) Drew 1-1
Fiorentina (H) Lost 2-1
Fiorentina (A) Lost 2-0

Not overly impressive   :(

I can't disagree with the results this season but I was meaning the effectiveness of the formation against big clubs over the last few years.
We have lost points and to some respect a potential league tite last year due to our results against other teams that we should be beating comfortably. I just think that if we outmatch them by so much on paper then matching them man for man on the field will create a more open game which would benefit us.

Previous to last season though (when we admittedly had an incredible record against the big four) our record every season was terrible against them.

I dont like, what I perceive there to be, a hierarchy amongst the squad.

I think Rafa has fuelled this by often referring to "senior" players in the media - even
naming these so-called senior players.

The thing is - this has given them license to castigate any "non senior" player on the pitch.

You see it often; Gerrard will turn round to a "non senior" player and have a word if a pass
wasn't as perfect as he would have liked. Carragher is another one who will throw his weight
about and shout at any "non senior" player.

However, you will never see a so- called "non senior" player do the same back.

This is the hierarchy Im talking about. It causes a split among the team/squad and
you wont get the players on the same wavelength as the other players sort of go
into a shell, too intimidated as it were.

I'm not sure how this is rectified - but Rafa has contributed to this rift and it should rest
on his and the captain's shoulders to stamp it out.

I think it is something that has crept into our game over the last one and a half seasons.

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

i think they need to be sent for a holiday where they can just go crazy and have some team bonding. they looked stricken with panic when wigan scored and it just showed the lack of composure, confidence and attitude from the team. perhaps a holiday away from the media, a small break from football would do them good.

He 'saved himself' for the big games, although that alone might have got us an extra six points.
