Appointing Houllier was the best thing that had happened to the club since 1991.He set out to re-establish the club, after it's decline into mediocrity filled with flash ,un-caring has-been footballers.Without GH we would be long gone into a black-hole.It was just too much for Houllier to take the club onto the next level.I'm glad he has gone but thankful he was our manager when we needed his strengths.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW IS JUST A DREAM AWAY.

Excelent Post on Houllier Supersub and a refreshing change from what i've heard in the last few days .

I posted late on Monday night that people in here were so shallow they couldn't make a puddle between them such was the drivel ???

Houlier will be seen as pivotal to our success in turning LFC round when we were in terminal decline after Souness and Evans. GH has instilled discipline, self respect, personal responsibility and a sense of pride in our traditiions and culture. Agree with you that the next level was beyond him .

1 - Gerrard leaves

2 - We mess around for too long, miss any good managers available and end up with Curbishley/Strachan :<

1. Gerrard and Owen leaving due to another year of underachievement, and leaving us thinking whether the new manager was the right man, with some fans calling for the manager's head when he hasn't had enough time to build the team.

2. Going into a new stadium, spending loads on new players and then have it revealed we are in debt problems similar to Leeds.

1- That we will waste the money from this investment, one way or another, whether it's on the wrong players, the new stadium, or this Academy in Thailand.

2- That we'll pick the wrong man for the manager's position.

can't see either of those happenin Scottbot.

Gerrard wouldn't go to the scum surely, and the league, well  we need to do a lot of work to get there, but with the right man in charge and a good set of players working hard for the club we can win it again and again.

1)   The appointment of the manager is wrong. This is overlapping slightly, but this descision for the Liverpool board is the most important one they have had to make for 15 years. If we get the right man, we can move on and get ourselves into the "BIG THREE" and back amongst Europes elite. If the wrong man is brought in we could be set back and never ever recover, simply becoming an Everton or Villa or Spurs. I pray, (no really I have been having a few words with the big fella lately) we make the right choice.

2)   The fickle fans, you know who you are, expecting to win the league and CL double and go unbeaten in the league next season. I know you might think I am overdoing it here, but there are Liverpool fans who beleive it is our devine right to win, and we need only turn up. This when added to the obvious optimistic slant that a new manager will bring (following the well proclaimed need to change the manager), and the increased optimism of having £60m worth of Thai blood money (only kidding) to spend on talent, I fear that if we dont win games by a few goals, or lose a couple on the bounce the already over nervous crowd at Anfield will be come restless and get on the back of the players and management.

Excellent post, Leon. That was very interested to read your post, mate. So you are absolutely spot on!!.

Some good posts guys but I'm intrigued by dalglish's comment.  I wonder if my fears are genuine.  Its one thing having uncertainty over the new manager the older folk have faced that before, but the financial uncertainties are worse!  Wolly your post about the white elephant is very relevant in my mind because I'm wondering what Thaksin wants for his 60 million other than 30%.  Is he gonna ask for the moon and stars and in the end burden the club with a commitment to coach for him.

My biggest fear at the moment is that we missed Mourinho when we could of had him 2 months ago, we will out on Benetiz and will end up with Alan Curbishley!
