I cannot wait for MOTD tonight. The team played well today and hopefully this is the start of a good run of results in the league.

:censored: me I hadn't been paying any attention to the scum game till I saw the result there, muckin fagic!!  MOTD will definitely be getting watched.  Nice change from last week when I couldn't even bring myself to watch it after the Fulham fiasco.

As for us today, I'm pretty pleased with that.  Didn't see the game so can't comment on the performance, but the result is just what was needed.  I heard Gerrard started the game on the right, if so then I'm glad to see it, we've been needing to do that for ages.  Glad to hear Garcia's pulled his finger out of his ar.se as well.

Benitez needs to stick with this team now, we need some consistency, everyone knows that's what we need to do.  But will Benitez do it?  No way, I'll bet Kewell and Crouch at least come back in next week, maybe even Traore, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Our strikers really need to start sticking a few more away, but to be honest I'd have taken any sort of win before the game today so I'm not bothered about that right now.  But this win is worthless unless we build on it and beat Villa next week, so let's not get carried away.

Kewell was rested today so he might play in mid-week or against Villa.

In my opinion Cisse and Moro need a good run of games together and i honestly feel it will come!!Theres just very little understanding there.
Moro needs to play again from the start against Anderlecht as games are the only thing that will get him match fit.
Cisse needs to keep his fuc, king chin up and work hard and stop complaining...was disgusted to see him pull a huffy face at Raffa today and mouth off when he got subbed.
All he needs to work on is making the right descisions and he wont be far away from a great player,as for the attitude???
Raffa wont accept it and no matter how good he comes if the attitude dont change i feel he'll be off in January..Really hope he keeps his toys in the pram and manages his frustration and his massive potential shines through!!

In all fairness i hope he doesnt bring him back, 11 players played well together today and are worth another go together.

And it would be nice have options on the bench, what i think is with squad rotation you dont really need to fight for your place, but if Rafa keeps this side together other players will know they have to start shineing in training or if they come on as sub and someones having a bad game they know they have a chance of playing there way into the team and impressing the manager.

Kewell should be made to fight for his place and so should the rest.

Excellent point G-Mac!

This is the only way that we will improve, when people are fighting for positions, and knowing a mistake will be costly (for themselves) and at the same time, the replacement has to do well to cement himself in the place.

At the moment I get the feeling, that the players know that they have roughly 1:2 chance of playing, and if they dont play one game, are likely to feature in the next.

It was far from a perfect performance today - the formation was confused with too much congestion in the middle of the park - but on a whole the attitude and work rate was much better and we definitely deserved the win.

The trick now is to string a few good results together.

A great win to boost the confidence. Sounds like Mori just needs more games to get the rust out of his finishing.
Well done lads.

No newbies with names resembling Luis Garcia 2005? Oh what a suprise!

i think it's time to play a more simple football, especially in EPL.
agree with JBG, our display was not an outstanding one. It was just like usual (except garcia's performance -which i believe it's his best this season, and the ball supply from mids to front gets a bit better), we dominated the games including many chances of scoring), not too much different to even the matches we lost, like against fulham and CP. The only different is: we won the game.
