well I absolutely disagree... I'm a rafa supporter but if he's thinking about off loading xabi then I believe he's absolutely wrong... a player like xabi is very very rare... I really do believe that he's now as good as juan sebastian veron was at his peak... similarly I will also think that rafa has made a mistake if he sells Agger... These 2 players we really need to keep them...

No one is disputing Alonsos quality or worth to the team but he is in a position where he has to strengthen the team for next year and a lot of his money he will have to spend could only come from selling so it's not like he would be choosing to sell him as a first option. If he were given more to spend then he surley would not contemplate selling Xabi but the fact that he came close to doing so last year leads me to think he will entertain that senario again, especially as Barry will be cheaper this year also.

As for Agger why would he sell him when he has just signed a new contract?

Is it deffo singed? Last I heard there was confusion as to whether he had actually signed or not, in an interview he said there were good discussions and it's ready to sign not that he'd actually signed tho. While BBC said he'd signed  ???

Hiopefully he and Carra can produce the form of yester year next season
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Agreed. But I think we still need another CB incase someone gets injured. However I don't think that will be top of Rafas list given the money that he will have to spend.

I think it was just a heat of the moment thing, Nan, and not something that'll divide the dressing room--Alonso will make sure of that. :D  As I said in the other thread, to me it was great to see that passion still there despite a disappointing result yesterday.  I think it shows a mental tenacity that will stand us in good stead next year.

No, to me, the real disappointment in the second half was Ryan Babel's appalling miss while unmarked in the box.  His is the sort of laid back, can't be a.rsed attitude that the club could do without.  Move him on Rafa, he's jacked it in long ago. :no

if u ever need another reason to give him away that was it...couldn't cut the mustard in this league...lack of passion, poor concentration level, pathetic finishing skills...need I go on?  :veryangry

No not really. I don't think you will find many mate that think Babel should be here next season. The problem is who will buy him?

hopefully somebody like Lyon, PSG, or Werder Bremen.  Because of the drop in the value of the pound, we could sell him for the same amount of pounds that we paid for him, while the European buying club will buy with a 25% discount on what Ajax received.

Jamie Carragher on his spat with Alvaro Arbeloa: "We can't win the league but we like to keep a clean sheet. I thought all day we were a bit lackadaisical. They had too many chances. Pepe Reina is going for the record, I think he can match Van der Sar, so we are doing that for Pepe."

not only that, but I think that we were on some kind of record for scoring at least 3 goals and that miss ended the streak.

nobody got in Carra's face when he almost gave away the clean sheet against West Ham with his whiffed back pass.
