Owen is Owen and he can do what he wants and players with loyalty are an extremely rare breed, and I don't expect it in any player, though I appreciate it when it's there (Stevie and Carra being the obvious examples). He's made his bed and if he's comfortable then good luck to him. Great player and if he comes back I'll welcome him with open arms. If he stays away, then such is life.

I agree completely. It must hurt him though when he sees Robbie back here doing well. Thats probably the plus side of Owen not coming back last season at least we got Robbie back.

owen was a genius for us. If he came back i'd be delighted. Whats done is done. Hindsight is a great thing. Did any of you actually believe we'd win the CL? Your honest answer would be no. He went to Newcastle cos they blew our offer out of the water. Owen wanted back but madrid wont take 6m less. It doesnt make good business.

As for Macca, he loves the club ciggy. He loves seeing robbie back there. When he left he had problems with his mum's health. The deal to leave for madrid was unbelievable. The player himself was magic for us aswell

Im not really sure on this one. Although at the time i was livid when Michael left us i can understand why he did. The lure of Madrid is a powerful one and if he honestly believed that we were going places he would have stayed no doubts. He is still a winner in my eyes and will go down as a legend. I cant really hate Owen like other Liverpool supporters even if i tried to. I just remember what he did for the club and was a great professional. Part of him must be envious but another part will be delighted for Stevie, Carra, Didi and the other reds he played alongside for what they have achieved since he departed.

i don't know, there have to be at least two parties invloved when someone leaving a club, i mean i'm not really sure either if rafa seriously wanted to block owen's departure. we start to know rafa better, he's against a team who are based on a self-centered orientation and all that. and don't forget, the gaffer also still not being fully-awaken from mcmanaman's nightmare. so, i wouldn't think owen is the most miserable bustad in the world after all

Steve Mcmanaman.... won 2 Champs.Leagues with Real Madrid but at least we got our own back when he finished up playing for ManCity reserves.

So not only do a few Liverpool fans have some weird obsession with raking up Houllier's Era (well the bad points anyway) a fair few like to rake up Owen when it suits them. You have to ask yourself is there any point? I don't think there is. Owen left in order to find silverware because he didn't think Liverpool could achieve that, so he went to a club where an awful lot of players go to win trophies - Real Madrid.

He made a mistake, he left and we got to two major cup finals, becoming the runners up against Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final & playing in the best cup final in history & winning in the Champions League final against AC Milan. Not to mention the the European Super-Cup and most recent the F.A Cup.

Sure the way in which Owen left was undignified and the fact he left two days before the opening day of the season leaving Liverpool in the lurch was also undignified and very unprofessional, not to mention him leaving without given the Rafalution a fair chance.

But who knows what would of happened if he stayed? I'm not gonna pretend I can say what would of happened if Owen was here now or not but for all anyone knows we might not of won the trophies that we have.

However Owen's not my favourite person in the world, whilst I was angry at the way in which he left, I honestly can't say I was too upset about him leaving. Every player has thier day when they move on to better or in Owen's case worse things. But everything happens for a reason and Liverpool have marched on stronger without Owen then with him.

This club has seen better players with bigger hearts say goodbye and we've always found the next generation of talent to replace the older ones and Owen will be no different.

Many say they want him back, I don't. I don't for many reasons, the fact that he walked away from this club in such a bad way and the fact that last season he failed to do what Morientes did and call Madrid's bluff to come to Liverpool, instead Owen only thinking about the World Cup and his England future decided to join the first club that came knocking and that club was Newcastle United. It shows on Owen's part a very weak minded individual and the small fact as he seems to be getting older he seems to be more injury-prone.

Whilst Owen's a great player and can get you bags of goals, there's no point in shelling out £12million or so for a player who's gonna be on the treatment table.

As far as I'm concerned Owen had his chance to comeback and he chickened out and joint Newcastle, he's made his bed and he can lie on it.

Well it's an old debate this Owen one, but what the hell.  Personally I can't stand the little tw@t and never want to see him back in a red shirt.

He strung us along saying he'd sign a new deal and then screwed us, left for Madrid for lass than half his value at the time and with not enough time to buy a replacement striker before the transfer deadline.  Cheers Mikey.

Then, when he actually gets an undeserved chance to make ammends for his mistake in going to Madrid, he screws us for a 2nd time.  Instead of saying 'no' to Newcastle, hence forcing Madrid to sell him to us for less money (like Morientes did when French clubs were offering Madrid more money than us for him), he panics and signs for Newcastle.  Why?  Because he cared more about England and the world cup than LFC.  No loyalty.  Worst case scenario all he had to do is be content with being a bit-part player til January for Madrid and then sign for us.  But no, 'Mikey' decides to screw us for a second time right on transfer deadline day when we could have been putting more efforts into signing a right winger or another forward instead.

But all that aside, would he be that good a signing if he returned?  I doubt it.  He's lost a hell of a lot of pace and he's one of the most injury prone players in England.  Still a good goalscorer, but he's 27 soon, and with all the serious injuries he's had, I think he'll be a spent force by the time he's 30.  So I think we could do a lot better to be honest, purely in footballing terms.

This thread is a joke, we win a couple of trophies and we start taking the p!ss out of all are ex players, What if one of them left us to go to a club that won things and then turned round and went "hahaha fu*king glad i left Liverpool, look how sh!t they are and how great i am" you would be fuming.

Macca did sh!t on us but gave us great services, so fu*kin what if the team he supported is still close to his heart, they cant all be like fowler, and so what if his kids grow up to support Everton, i gather you want your kids to support the team you love or do you all expect everyone to support Liverpool, FFS some of you need to get over yourselfs and realise that not everyone loves this club like us otherwise what would be the point, the fact Maca played for us but Everton is still close to his heart tells me a lot about the man.

Whats he done this season. Very similar to his last couple of seasons with Liverpool. Always injured or out of form.

I would prefer to have horse face than Owen and thats saying something.
