We must do whatever it takes to sign swp

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We need to sign Wright-Phillips in the summer, it's not very often a quality creative wing player comes on the market...we're still paying the price for signing Diao, Diouf and Cheyrou rather than Duff in 2002.

I think we could get Wright-Phillips for about £12m, as long as Arsenal don't come in with a big bid for him.  If we sell players like Dudek, Diouf, Diao, Cheyrou, Nunez, Kewell, Hyypia, Traore, Biscan etc in the summer I would like to see us also sign Hargreaves to rotate with Gerrard and Alonso in central midfield, and then overhaul the defence by signing Coloccini, Woodgate and Bridge.  We could probably get Woodgate on the cheap after all his injury problems and the fact that the manager who signed him isn't even at Madrid any more.  This gives us a pretty classy squad, with Alonso and Cisse to come back too.

Goalkeepers :

Kirkland, Carson

Defenders :

Carragher, Finnan, Woodgate, Coloccini, Bridge, Josemi

Midfielders :

Alonso, Gerrard, Wright-Phillips, Garcia, Hargreaves, Diarra, Riise, Le Tallec

Strikers :

Morientes, Cisse, Baros, Sinama-Pongolle

You want us to sign a defender who hasn't kicked a ball all year? [Woodgate?]

He's surely worth a gamble if we can get him cheap...there aren't many defenders who you can guarantee would be able to fit right in to a Premiership defence and improve it.

He'd be a bargain at £7m if we could sort out his injury problems.

You think Real Madrid will let him go for 7 million? They payed 14 million for him and I wouldn't be suprised if they raised his price to 15 million if anybody attempted to buy him, they will want to make profit.

I don't want an injury prone player. He's been injured this whole year and could lead to even more injury problems.

Madrid have admitted that they misdiagnosed his injury, which has resulted in him being out so long...

They also said they bought him to sell at a profit.
As for SWP at the risk of upsetting most pple here ,I actually dont rate him that much he's got pace sure enough but more often than not he runs into a corner or a wall of players his pace does carry him through a lot and glaze's over other faults. He is in a decidedly average team who's best player is GOD who was deemed surplus to our requirements. He is allways gonna shine in an average team in a good team i think he will just look average.

The lad is sheer quality. We couldn't sign a better player right now. He is the next English star.

Defoe is the next England Star IMO but as an aside how many players have joined LFC with big reputations and potential only to flounder  :suspect:

Mcteer, Diouf, Kewell, James to name but a few have wilted under the Liverpool spotlight.  :Oo:

whatever it takes to get Garcia out of our lineup. There are guys you want to have patience with but this guy just won't learn...
...oh and please don't suggest signing Woodgate. The club's sickbed is full for the foreseeable future
