We don't actually have any striker

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm writing this right after the chelsea match. I've never felt so bad like this. No matter how hard we play, no matter how solid and contributive our mids are, no matter how solid our defense are, it simply won't work if you don't have strikers

yes we technically have forwards, but we practically don't have strikers.

yes crouch plays not bad, he helps the others to play easier, but that's not what he's paid for, strikers must score.

Yes we have expensive player in Cisse, yes we have a world class striker in moro. But so far they're just some jokes.

Yes we cry for RW and CB, but what's the point in getting the most expensive defender ever in our history if you kick the ball upfront to only return back again

sorry, just can't help it  :(

Where would we be if Gerrard were not there?

Some of you might say we could have some quality players from  gerrard's departure (whose one of them might be a quality striker) but aren't we all learning from the recent transfer window how "easy" it was to get a player needed?

rephrasing:
where would we be if gerrard were not there? :(

Exactly my point a few weeks ago in the topic, we would have been f.ucked if Gerrard had have left, a few people said we would be in the same position as we are now.
Some how I dont f.uckin think so........................................................................................

Oh Dirk Kuijt sign for Liverpool please, Morientes and Cisse leave please.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Its true that with two top class forwards we would be one hell of a team. If we had them today we would have been ahead in the game when we had the edge.

What is surprising is the lack of transfer activiity in that area. In January its one in one out on loan. As much as I like Fowler it does show our predicament if we are turning to a former hero to get us a goal. We so badly need to invest in the forward line in the summer. This season I imagine that alone will cost us second place. Why did we not buy a quality forward? Only the powers that be can answer that because our difficulty is so glaringly obvious.

rafa will get the striker(s) we need. Owen yes please, teves maybe, adriano dreaming, Keane yes, kuuyt maybe, morientes and cisse please go.

I know we run this club properly, we have cut our cloth but sometimes in life you need to take a risk and i feel that this is the time. Rafa is great but even he cant make a great striker, you can a forward player but not a striker. We need to splash big money and go and get a proven goalscorer.

You are right there is a lack of strike force at the club. The current set of strikers, must have the worst goal ratio return ever recorded at Liverpool. All lack predator instincts and Crouch can't even head a ball, our play is excellent in two thirds of the field but falls down in the oponents penalty area.Fowler has the instinct but it may be a while untill he's firing on all cylyders.Cisse is just another expensive mistake, and maybe Morrientes is past his best, which leaves Crouch who has a lot to learn.
Very dissapointing today hope the form has'nt gone out the window with this result.:(

I agree that you can't make a good striker if the talent isn't there but splashing out big money isn't gonna guarantee you goals - case in point DJIBRIL CISSE. The club has splashed out £14m on a player that to the then manager was going to be the new 'THIERRY HENRY' and look what we've ended up with - a player that makes emile heskey a world beater. I agree that we need to maybe pinpoint a player and be a little bit more flexible when negotiating the deal but we can't go spending the big bucks unless it's for a player like eto'o, henry, defoe or someone along these lines. In terms of players like kujt or tevez who've been mentioned here i think that whilst not doubting their class they haven't been tested in a major world leaugue like ours and we could end up with another cisse.

I think Andy Grey hot it on the head when we were playing United last week when he said "if Liverpool had Rooney and Van Nistelrooy they would be a fantastic team and would probably win the league", if Andy Grey can say something like that it just shows how fan Rafa has brought the side, we have a solid defence and midfield but it's just those two strikers that let prevent us from taking that next step in the Rafalution :(
