NHS sucks and crime is high but I do not agree that the UK is a cultural backwater compared to Germany, UK is only really behind Italy and France in the whoel world when it comes to culture in my opinion, just look at all the great authors, playwrights, artists and inventors etc etc that has come out of the UK.
Anyone with a ponytail gets little respect form me but after those comments I imagine it is bye bye Vorinator.

Stop jumping to conclusions, Heimdall. And you calling the fella an "ex-commie pr*ck" is actually no better than the spin the press are putting on this. In fact, it's more blatant. And as far as great authors, artists, poets and playwrights go...well, I'd say there'd be more renowned ones from where I come from.

I seriously doubt that Voronin meant any real offense. After all, as you say, he's on 30k a week and at a club bigger than any he'll ever be it. Now, I dare say the man has at least some intelligence not to be blatantly abusive to the hand that feeds him. As you can see from people's comments who do live in the UK, some actually agree with him.

For what it's worth, heimdall, I'm not having a rant at you. But if he really was being provocative intentionally, surely there'd be more a stink about it other than being publicized in some column in some rag.

He has been kinda crappy but you people behave like kids. We support and believe in our players until they have done something really wrong.

If they dont then they can go back home......even if it is our top players.

We should buy English

I do agree that a player should have respect for the club and the country, as they represent it.

However, what all English teams are playing well?

Bet he didnt even have a sock growing up, the cheek of it coming from someone from the Ukraine no wonder the NHS is so fecked up with all the migrants comin over for free treatment.

He was in Costco the other week with a pair of them Victoria Beckham sunglasses on pretending not to get recognised.

Our anthony said he came in the home office the other week with his son and applied for perminent residence so he cant hate Liverpool that much.

The offal's run a 'clear the air' interview with him where he swears he was misquoted.

___

VORONIN: I'M HAPPY IN LIVERPOOL
Jimmy Rice 10 April 2008
Andriy Voronin has laughed off reports in the Russian press that he's not settling into life in England.
The Ukraine international arrived on Merseyside last summer after 12 years plying his trade in the German league.

Voronin admits the transition has been tough but, with his Scouse accent coming on a treat and a new born baby to look after, the striker is now enjoying life on Merseyside.

Here's what he had to say in full:

voronin

It's been a frustrating few months for you with your ankle injury. How pleased are you to be back in training and getting some minutes?

Obviously it was difficult because the injury came at a bad time. I practically had three months without playing but, thank God, everything is okay now. I've already been on the substitutes' bench a few times and have come on, and I'm hoping to be part of the first team again soon.

How is your fitness?

Much better. It's getting better every day. Obviously I need playing time because I missed a lot, but it's getting there.

Are you confident of playing a major part as the Champions League and Premier League enter their final stages?

I'm 100 per cent sure I can help the team. I know it's a difficult situation and we have some very tough games ahead, but I'm ready to do my utmost.

It's Chelsea now in the semi-final – do they present a tougher test than Arsenal?

Speaking from a personal point of view, Arsenal play better football, though Chelsea are very consistent in the Premier League. Arsenal's game is more dangerous but Chelsea have very good attacking players as well. I think these games are going to be very interesting. Chelsea are a good team but they will have a lot of respect for us.

The game will bring Andriy Voronin up against Andriy Shevchenko as well…

[Laughs] Yes, from the bench maybe! But seriously, it would be great. I played against him in the cup match when Chelsea won 2-0. It'd be nice to get revenge on him. He rang me yesterday to talk about the game but I didn't have time to speak with him. We do talk a lot on the phone and I'm sure we'll have a lot of banter before the game.

Will the fact we've beaten Chelsea twice at this stage give us a psychological advantage?

I think Chelsea will remember those two games when Liverpool knocked them out in the semi-final stage. I think this will mean we have to take the game very seriously. I am looking forward to this game and hoping we win, especially with the final being in Moscow.

Have you allowed yourself to think about playing in the final, with it being in Russia?

We have got to think about Chelsea first and foremost. But I have visited Moscow before. It's a big and beautiful city with a great stadium. The atmosphere will be amazing whoever gets there. But, like I say, we are not thinking about that yet because Chelsea will be really tough.

I imagine you'd have a lot of ticket requests if we did get there, though?

Yes, people are already asking me about it, but it is a long way to the final yet. We will have to be at our best to get there.

There are comments in today's newspapers suggesting you are not happy here in England. Can you explain what exactly you meant?

To begin with, I never said I don't like it here. When I first moved here I didn't find it easy because I'd lived in Germany for 12 years. I didn't know the language but I'm gradually getting there. My wife had a baby here and, thank God, everything was okay. So, I am getting more and more used to life here every day.

So, you're saying you were mis-quoted?

It was either a misunderstanding or I was deliberately mis-quoted, yes.

So is your family settled now?

We are feeling much better than six or seven months ago. When we have time we go into town. My wife likes to spend time shopping in the city. We like it here and don't have any problems with life in England or the town, except for the weather!

Do you come into much contact with the fans and what do you make of them?

Liverpool fans are the best and most passionate in the world. Before I came here I knew about them. Now I can play in front of them and I love it. The support we receive is amazing. I have played in many stadiums and have never had any problems with the fans, but I have never come across the kind of connection between the players and fans as we have here in Liverpool.

How is your English coming along? Some of the comments in the newspapers suggested you were having trouble understanding Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher?

[Laughs] Stevie and Carra have Liverpudlian accents, obviously. I find it difficult to understand the Scouse accent, but that's natural I think. It is easier for me to understand the Spanish lads and the boss because they speak slower. My English has progressed quite a bit, though, and I can now communicate well with my teammates and the coach. I'm hoping that very soon my Scouse accent will start to come through.

How do you assess your first season here in England?

I think I started not bad. I played a lot at the beginning and scored a few goals. Obviously the injury was a set-back. There are a lot of good players here, it's competitive, so it's difficult to get straight back into the team after an injury. I'll do my best and hopefully I can help the team this season. I think I still have a lot to show the fans.

There's always talk of players coming and going in the summer. Do you see your future here?

I don't have any problems here. I would like to stay. If I do come across any problems, I know I can sort them out here. I hope my future is at Liverpool.

-------------------

I stand by my "taxi for Andriy" comment--not because of what he said but because he's a bit sh!t as a footballer, really. :D
