VAN DER VAART SEEKS AJAX EXIT
Rafael van der Vaart has made up his mind to leave Ajax at the end of the season.

The Holland international midfielder, who missed Sunday's game against NEC Nijmegen because of a bruised wrist that he picked up in training, told Het Parool newspaper it was time to move on.

"My contract runs for another season after this one, but I want a new challenge.

"And it's best for the club too if I leave Ajax next summer, they will get a nice price for me then," he said.

Van der Vaart, 22, is in his sixth season in Amsterdam but after an excellent start seemed to lose his way and has also had the captain's armband taken away.

Under interim coaches Ruud Krol and Tonnie Bruins Slot the international has been benched twice.

"Rafael was for long a player who made the difference and scored a lot but how long ago is that?" Krol told AD Sportwereld.

"Van der Vaart is one of our players, just like the rest."

I remember when we were in the amsterdam tournament i think it was in 2002, he was amazin, he ripped us to shreds, i had really high hopes for him and he seems like he has lost his way, hopefully a move to another league could help re-ignite his career, i think he would be a very useful addition to the team

VDV has a lot of potential and has dipped in form over the last few seasons, as you said he pulled us to bits in the Amsterdam tournament in 2002, I'm sure we could pick him up for about £3.5m

well he announced that his first choice would be la liga, and i'm sure we'd have to contend with others, so he wouldn't be as automatic as you guys think

i also hear LFC are interested in the highly rated espanyol youngster Soliarno (hope that is spelt right), so it would seem we may become a spanish national feeder squad!!? i'm all for talent, but not just from one country.

Ive got no problem with it at all.

As long as they are quality players I am all for it.

A Liverpool mixed with good English and Spanish players could work GREAT.

I don't give a flying fu(k where the players come from, as long as we win the Charity Shield, League Cup, FA Cup, European Championship and the Prem League!!  [ps every year!!]

i like VDV, always have, hes had a bad season but the guys got quality and thats what we need at the moment, his kind of flair
