Urgent uefa meeting - U know what for

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Huck » Thu May 26, 2005 11:42 pm

I dont really know if its an already known thing there but im listening to the most famous  sport programme in a Spanish radio station and after interviewing Luis Garcia they have said as breaking news that uefa has fixed a meeting on 17th June to discuss and decide what are they going to do with LFC for next CL edition. I wish they are sensible enough to take any special measures if necessary to include Liverpool cos nobody can understand that a competition could be played without is current champion (thats Liverpool huh?   )

I think the sponsors (Mastercard, Ford etc) will put too much pressure on uefa for them to say no

Everton are sh*te and won't last very long in the CL, assuming they get past the qualifiers. Giving them a place in the CL would be a total waste.

Kick them out.

They should be grateful to get into the UEFA Cup since most of their fans probably thought they'd be playing teams like Luton and Reading next year.

We are the European Champions.

We should be in the CL next season.

this ISN'T about Everton with all due respect ??? Its about the inability of the footballing authorities to take a decision about the running of their competition. There is much to discuss on this subject, tonight isn't the time IMO

The Welsh FA has said that TNS (welsh champions) will forfeit their CL nomination if they have a play-off with Liverpool. Apparently if that's what TNS want to do, then the welsh FA will nominate another team instead

.. Harry Harrison of the Express.. has launched a campaign thru the Express re; :CL for LFc.. he was speaking confidently about the fact the some "big guns" will come out in support of LFC tomorrow.. look out for express..

...but looks like too much pressure on UEFA to let us in.. Lennart himself has said to Moores he'll do everyting he can and some big voters on the UEFA Executive have said they'll move to let LFC in.. :)

Whatever happens its my belief that Liverpool FC should not go "cap In hand" to UEFA and the FA begging to be included.

If UEFA decide not to include us then we wihdraw from the Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup as these are inconsequential games designed as a PR excercise for UEFA on the world stage ........And concentrate on havinga  pop at the Premier League !

Your missing the point !!!!!! ???  Until someone stands up to these political mercanaries  it won't change. Since the inception of the competition the winners have ALWAYS defended their trophy..........

Liverpool FC have always been different so why not on this matter can't the club show that it's not about money and finances and being enslaved to the authorities  ???

There is far too much "we deserve this " and "we deserve that " spoken on here...until a Club in a strong position like Liverpool are at present stand up this competition will descend into farce and be at the mercy of men in suits who with all due respect couldn't run a small business never mind one where the participants are falling over themselves to be a part of !

We deserve this, we deserve that. We should stop kidding ourselves. Everton deserves to be there and we dont. UEFA will only let us through if its in the best interests of them, they dont give a damn about justice!!

Without having the champions defend the title, this competition will lose its glamour and prestige. Everton deserve to be in the CL? I dont know about deserve, but they got the points. When you talk about deserving to be in the CL, go no further than the current champions. Imagine watching the CL next season and in the title sequence seeing Liverpool lifting the cup and celebrating their triumph, then wondering where the hell they are, it would be quite disturbing viewing. At least we saw a glimpse of Porto this season in the CL, albeit they performed poorly thanks to JM, but starting the comp without the champions is well :censored:.

Given the fact (see "by country"), England should thank Liverpool by putting pressure on FA to push Liverpool into the Champion competition next year, or FA will be remembered for ages as the most silly country's FA
