D'ya think we will start getting new players in quickly now. Rafa has just over a month to prepare for this first round. I expect a flock of players expressing interest in us now after this announcement.

Yeah I know that, meant to be rhetorical question!

Just seems that UEFA have done a bodge job again, and half heartedly let us in.

Not convinced this going to be good for us - 6 serious fixtures (7 if you count the super cup) before the end of August. Less money than the rest, and we won't be cashing in on friendlies on Japan now. Disrupted pre season training, less time for the new players to fit in (when will we have to decide who is in our CL squad?) But it will all be worth it if we draw the bitters in the 3rd round................

:censored:, we should have gone in at least the 3rd qualifying round....

Well considering some of best memories of last seasons campaign were those magical European nights i think its well worth it.
We need extra revenue and it will certainly help attract quality players
They had to bend the rules to let us in so there was always going to be some stings in the tail to make the necessary compromises of the rules

Looks okay to me -  think there may be one or two days in there without a game!!

Perhaps we won't be selling so many players now!

Looks ok to you maybe, but thats even before the prem starts, the F.A. cup, the Carling Cup, ffs, we need about 50 players.

well i reckon the japan tour is out the window now. though if we still have an unsold baros, kewell etc we can send them out there with some reserves so as not to get them cup tied and less saleable. the ukk friendly won't be necessary as we should be pretty sharp and match fit by then. (one big advantage of this whole thing). but as for the rest.... who feckin knows. we're going to need a good squad and fast.

stop yer moanin we got in didnt we thats what we wanted even if it does seem a bit harsh. We will be playin teams we havent even heard of before in the qualifiers not exactly going to be tough we will probably cancel the friendlys and that will give less time for our squad to get fit and new players to settle in so thats a downside but this is what we wanted

Look on bright side, our signing will come in a lot quicker and then all these who we are being linked rumours wont be clogging up the threads  :D
If the UEFA bean counters had had their way , we wouldnt be in but they were forced into by a tide of popular opinion so we were never going to get an easy ride in .
We didnt finish fourth and so we are now paying for it but when all i said and done i still rather be in CL then UEFA cup
