Travelling to liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Aussie Style » Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:54 am

Hi guys,

I will be travelling to Liverpool in Sept next year.
I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on places to stay, things to do/see, good pubs etc. The trip is purely for football. I will be travelling with a toffee and a manc, don't ask why I'm friends with them  :D
Are there still tours of Anfield available? AND most importantly what is the best way to get tickets to games?

Any advice and info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

hi aussie.

im from liverpool mate.

yes the anfield tour is still on go check that out.

as for tickets, the best way?...steal em..seriously, with being a visitor to our city, i reckon the ticket office will  just give you some, write to lfc themselves and tell them your travelling thousands of miles to see your beloved team etc, ya never know they may look after you.

as for places to stay, we have a few nice hotels in the city centre, marriot, crowne plaza, ramada(there the classy ones), if you want something a bit cheaper try the travel lodge, holiday inn, dolby something, these are all near to a place called the albert dock(liverpools waterfront), in here you will find more classy restaurants, the blue bar is nice, went there last night with work the food was fab, and underneath it is a comedy club, which is pretty good. you also have the echo arena, maybe take in a concert?. we also have the duck bus, you just have to go on that:). you could also do the beatles tour, if you like them, visit john lennons old house on the magical mystery tour.

and for a night out, matthew street is quite good, some irish bars etc.

cant think of anything else mate, but have fun.:)

^Thanks mate I really appreciate the reply. A mate of mine whos a Newcastle fan called them up before he went over regarding tickets and they were able to set him up with away tickets at Old Trafford last year opening day, it cost about £200 but it was a tour and meal and all that, so I might try calling up..don't know how I'd go but worth a shot. I'll be sure to check out a few of the places you mentioned, can't wait. 2 months based in Liverpool travelling to London, Madrid, Paris gonna be a beauty.

Hey,

I´m not allowed to open a new topic, so i post my question(s) here...

I´m from Austria and i will to Liverpool to watch the game against West Brom in August this year. I already know that it is very complicated to get tickets. But I´ve read on some various sites, that some people sell tickets in front of the stadium on the match day. It would be nice if man about town can tell me if it´s right or possible?!?

How much will a ticket against West Brom cost about? Do you think it´s possible to get a ticket for about £ 70?

I would be very glad if someone is going to answer me  :D

We don't encourage touts mate , they are feckin scum . Any way Leon is your man , he can usually get you tickets at face value . He also provides a beer and wine tasteing session in one of the local ale houses. If your really lucky he maybe able to sort you out witha bit of a buffet lunch . :)

Thanks for your answer,

of course, I also don´t want to encourage them, but it´s my only way to get tickets. And if i come from Austria just for that game and then don´t come in Anfield I get into panic...

Thanks for your advise, but I thinks it´s very hard to find that Leon, isn´t it`?

You should be able to get legimate tickets for W.Brom. You just need to put a bit of effort in. I suggest you start by looking at the official website and the ticket section on RAWK.

Gday matey

I went over to Liverpool last year from Oz and had a great time
It may be bit of cliche but I  found the people lot more friendly up there then in the south

You also certainly get a better bang for your buck with hotels then what you do in London.
For same price that I paid for a dogbox next to hyde park , I had a great room in Radisson

I really enjoyed their Albert Dock area with Beatle, Tate and  Martime museums being a highlight for me

Anfield tour was great, though I still cant over how basic the change room is

You have a ball you lucky beggar :D

Thanks mate, appreciate it! Unfortunately the trips been postponed til around Jan. We are trying to organize work over there for 6 or 12 months and rental accommodation so we can become temporary Scousers :D The wages are higher, the rents lower, and we have football every week..we might never leave!

What are the Scouse girls like though?? :p

Forget the museums and stuff - get yerself into the pubs.

May I recommend Coopers just over from Central Station -
it will be crammed but you meet some right characters in there.
