LIVERPOOL TARGET YAKUBU
Press Report 13 May 2004

Portsmouth striker Yakubu has become a shock target for Liverpool manager Gerard Houlier.

With the futures of both Micheal Owen and Emile Hekey uncertain Houlier has targeted Yakubu to bolster his strike force. With an expected influxe of cash into the club Houlier will have around £35 million to spend in the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman has been impressed with Yakubu's performances in portsmouth relagation fight and belives that he can help push Liverpool into realistic title contenders.

Houlier believes he can get Yakubu for around £8 million. Portsmouth dont want to sell but they would be hard pressed to refuse a bid of that size. But Liverpool are not the only side intrested with Yakubu with several teams from Europe also impressed with his performances in his first season in the English top flight.

One club from France and two from Spain are ready to make bids when the transfer window opens.

If people really want to fill papers then at leats make it belivable!!!!

It's time to keep track of how many players we get linked with this year. I think I read on here a while ago that we were linked with over 200 players last season.

with this proposed investment we're gonna be linked with every player under the sun. one of the reasons morgan's bid was rejected was because he wanted to have a say in transfers.

With GH's past record in the transfer market I'm not suprised but would Morgan really be the best choice to give advise.

Who or our scouts? I'm saw GH dosen't sit at home watching Five football and picking players from there.

Yakubu & £8 million in the same sentence? Gotta be out of your fuc<ing mind. Houllier might have made a lot of mistake before but he is not stupid...

Yakubu couldn't hit a barn-door with a fricking banjo..... reminds me of someone else at the club
“It was my first of the season, my last of the season, my best of the season and the one I will remember for ever.”

- Vladi Smicer after scoring in the CL Final

"I'm not a believer in fate..... until tonight, they're going to win it!"

Absolutely utter sh1t rumour!!

Portsmouth doesn't own Yakubu, Maccabi Haifa of Israeli club own him, so Yakubu signed for Portsmouth last summer on season loan. But Yakubu can stay at Portsmouth for another year.

Can't see Yakubu to play for Liverpool this summer.
