Transfer deja vu - Ins and outs

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby onizukaeikichi » Wed Jun 14, 2006 7:49 pm

The agent of Daniel Alves has confirmed that his client is holding out for a move to Liverpool despite interest from other clubs.

Sevilla and Liverpool have agreed a fee in principal for the player but additional clauses that could be triggered over time could see that fee rise by as much as £4million in total and that's what's causing problems.

Providing an update, Jose Rodriguez Baster said: "I can say that, without any doubts, the player wants to go to Liverpool.

"Personally I have not listened to any other club, although some have rung and I have passed them on to Sevilla, but what Daniel wants to is to play for Liverpool.

"The two sides are getting closer, we are still quite a way apart.

"Daniel was not looking to leave Sevilla, but there are times when - without actually having forced the issue - you want to improve yourself.

"Daniel is very happy here with the fans, the club and with everything, but every player in the world always wants to play for a bigger club, it's not that Sevilla aren't big.

"I don't think I can give a timescale for this because there are differences, but we'll see."

come on

We cant go for big star names, we just dont have the budget, unless we got them on the cheap. We have to look at much cheaper and less well known options, i dont personally know who would be right for us because im not Rafa, ill leave that to him. Hes bought unknown players who have become stars like alonso, sissoko, garcia so i trust his judgement.

He will bring in the right players and we wont have to pay 20 odd million for them. No point suggesting we buy adriano, ronaldinho, thierry henry, kaka, torres, villa etc. when we blatantly cant afford them, its ridiculous, we're not chelsea. Rafa will get the best possible players for us though without spending hundreds of millions and they will probably end up bargains in the end. Obviously like any manager he will make mistakes in the transfer market every so often but he will usually get it right. Im confident the right players will come in this summer and we will be a very strong team for next season

Ronaldo looked like did really wasnt bothered yesterday night.

And Raul, well he started on the Bench for Spain today. Another Moro if you ask me..

Fernando Torres looked great today. As Martin Jol said on Radio 5 live, hes is a scorer of great goals, not a great goal scorer and that lack of goals plus a 25 Mil price tag may put Rafa of. That coupled of course with the fact that Athletico have just signed Aguerio aswell.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

A few months ago didnt rafa say he was getting a 30 million budget? If so we could buy a star name such a torres/villa for around 20m, a budget right winger such as pennant for 5m, sell cisse for 6m and then buy kuyt for 11m?

I am still a firm believer that we should have gerrard out on the right and there is no need to buy an expensive right winger, just a replacement one.

Gonzalez     Sissoko    Alonso     Gerrard
Not a bad midfield is it?

we cant take a chance on a striker that mite or mite not make it in the epl. iv we dont get outselvs a 30+ goal striker we wont be challaging for the leauge.

we only have

fowler and crouch at the mo, and sinama and mellor but u cant count them 2,

we need to brake the bank and buy a proven goal scorer.
he will pay for himself with the goal return . i still say we should go all out and bring owen back. i no its not good buisness and he :censored: on us, but i want wats best for liverpool and he is proven out and out goal scorer

Doesnt Owen have a 12m buyout fee in his contract? If so that would be a very good buy even though we sold him for only 8m as with the quality we have now, he could get the service to bag 20 premiership goals if he stays away from injury

bavlondon wrote:Liverpool’s attempts to grab Sevilla’s Daniel Alves are still ongoing, and the Reds are closer than ever to catching their man.

Rafa has him down as his main target for the summer, and Liverpool have provisionally agreed personal terms with him with Sevilla’s blessing. Unfortunately though the clubs are still not quite meeting each other as far as price is concerned.

Liverpool’s bid was originally believed to be £7m, with an increased offer of £8m turned down. Sevilla originally wanted £12m, later dropping down as far as £10m. So they are getting closer, but not yet close enough.

Now the player’s agent has spoken out to make sure the media know what the player wants. Jose Rodriguez Baster says that Alves wants to join the Reds and nobody else, despite some interest from elsewhere: “I can say that, without any doubts, the player wants to go to Liverpool. Personally I have not listened to any other club, although some have rung and I have passed them on to Sevilla, but what Daniel wants to is to play for Liverpool.”

The fact Alves only wants to join the Reds means Sevilla are going to find it harder to start a bidding war, and so the price should eventually be more to Liverpool’s liking than Sevilla’s.

A few questions:

1)   Where do you keep finding these pie in the sky speculative transfer stories with absolutly no quotes or substance ?

2)   Why do you keep posting the rubbish on here ?

3)   Why have you not started a new thread wit hthis little nugget ? (You usually do)

from the bbc

Sevilla have reluctantly agreed to sell defender Daniel Alves to Liverpool, but say the Reds have yet to match their asking price, believed to be £8m.

The 23-year-old has long been a target for Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said: "We're already talking big money but Sevilla don't want to lose Daniel.

"He has let us know the offer from Liverpool is the most important. But he has not put pressure on us and we don't have a harsh relationship with him."

Brazilian Alves has been at Sevilla for four years now and impressed during their Uefa Cup success in 2006, most notably in the 4-0 demolition of Middlesbrough in the final.

Liverpool are thought to have already made a £7m bid for the player, which was deemed too low by his current employers.

Del Nido added: "Liverpool have not yet made us an offer which is acceptable. Until they meet our asking price, there's no deal."
