Rafa has him down as his main target for the summer, and Liverpool have provisionally agreed personal terms with him with Sevilla’s blessing. Unfortunately though the clubs are still not quite meeting each other as far as price is concerned.

Liverpool’s bid was originally believed to be £7m, with an increased offer of £8m turned down. Sevilla originally wanted £12m, later dropping down as far as £10m. So they are getting closer, but not yet close enough.

Now the player’s agent has spoken out to make sure the media know what the player wants. Jose Rodriguez Baster says that Alves wants to join the Reds and nobody else, despite some interest from elsewhere: “I can say that, without any doubts, the player wants to go to Liverpool. Personally I have not listened to any other club, although some have rung and I have passed them on to Sevilla, but what Daniel wants to is to play for Liverpool.”

The fact Alves only wants to join the Reds means Sevilla are going to find it harder to start a bidding war, and so the price should eventually be more to Liverpool’s liking than Sevilla’s.

A few questions:

1)   Where do you keep finding these pie in the sky speculative transfer stories with absolutly no quotes or substance ?

2)   Why do you keep posting the rubbish on here ?

3)   Why have you not started a new thread wit hthis little nugget ? (You usually do)

Its from the news fed site newsnow.co.uk which is updated every 5 seconds worldwide. And if you read furthert on it you will see that Baster has quoted himself that the player only wishes to play for Liverpool so the claims are not fake as you suggest.

And as for starting a new thread well I just didnt want to as there is a bit too much of that going on around here and the topic does relate to this story.

If you dont like it then dont reply to it Leon, its as simple as that.

I think its quite odd for Leon to blast someone for posting rubbish considering some of his recent posts!!

Even the signing of Teddy Sheringham would get me excited at the moment!!!

Bav, just source where you are getting the articles from, then the trouble will stop. It isn't hard. It also gives or takes away credibility of the info in the article (eg, one from the echo compared to tribalshyte).

I hope not, whilst I don't expect many of our players to show they are truly red, I expect them to at least show some patience and some loyalty, as well as backbone. Whilst I've accepted the valid reasons Owen had for leaving in 2004 (To win better trophies, win more trophies and earn a fortune).

I've not forgiven him for not giving the Benitez regime a chance, nor can I forgive him for leaving two days before the start of the new season, therefore we never had time to find a replacement. I also don't want him because he was to scared to call Real Madrid's bluff, therefore he rejected Rafa for the second time.

Would I take Owen back if he showeed an ounce of loyalty to the club which made him such a star? Would I want him back if he wasn't always injured and had the pace he once had? Damn right I'd take him back, I don't blame Owen for going to Madrid but I do blame a lack of backbone by Owen to come to us last summer, instead of Newcastle. I'd also take him back if he wasn't always injured and if he had a bit more pace.

Owen in my eyes, is truly over the hill, we're lucky we got the very best out of Owen, coz he's never going to be that Owen who popped up and scored two goals past Arsenal in the F.A Cup final or that whizz kid who scored against Argentina.

Javier Saviola will be available on a free after the WC. Surley Rafa would be interested in im and its not like his wages would be high. More money can then be put towards a RM.

I thouht he played well toda in setting up that 3rd goal.

Just foud this on newsnow

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Feyenoord for Dirk Kuyt, according to reports.

The Mirror is claiming that the Kuyt deal is done, and will be concluded after the world cup in a £10million deal.

How much truth there is in this report is not known, Liverpool are not exactly rolling in the cash at the moment, and still have to find a right winger and another striker, so stay tuned to find out if this deal goes ahead.

Last week the Feyenoord president said he had received no offers for Kuyt and he was staying.

And Benitez will decide in the next two weeks whether he teams up Kuyt with Blackburn's Craig Bellamy, who is available for a cut-price £6m.

Bellamy has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for a top Premiership club for that figure. But the clause is only binding for another fortnight, and if Benitez takes the plunge he will have to act swiftly. The Liverpool boss is weighing up the player's undoubted ability against his reputation for trouble, and he will move next week if he can be convinced Bellamy is a reformed character.

I read in the papers this morning that a deal is very close to being sorted to sign Craig Bellamy.  Has anyone more information about this.
