Finnan    Carra     Agger   Riise
Yossi    Gerrard    Alonso   Babel
            Torres    Crouch
Subs: Idjante, Arbeloa, Mascherano, Pennant, Kewell, Kuyt, Voronin,

hmmm.....i`m sure we`d all like to wrap this tie up on wednesday but i think we cant afford to underestimate this lot either.
lyon have proved over the last few seasons that they are more than a force to be reckoned with in the champions league and have beaten some high profile clubs like real madrid, and as someone mentioned earlier toulouse beat lyon the weekend.
any away win would be a good result to me.

an even better reason to make sure we play a really strong squad.

If momo starts ahead of gerrard....i can assure u the rotation thread will hit 50 pages on thursday ...  :D

There is noway we can drop gerrard.....He is the only one who looks like scoring for us.

I hear what you are saying and if we were playing Wigan at the weekend then fair enough but its Chelsea so I think he wont play

Sorry but is it me or wasnt it only a few years ago gerrard used to play 3 games in a week and still be as good as he is now ?

You have to have him in not because he any person that looks like scoring Not because he can pass the ball inch perfect 40 yards just because if you left him out and we lost 1-0 or 2-1 you just wouldnt be feeling to good in the morning would you  ?

I'd like to see a Mascherano and Yossi midfield partnership. :D

No really.

Just for once.

Masch and Yossi in the middle.

Pennant on the right, Babel on the left.

and Crouch and Voronin in front.

Provided, Crouch's height will cause plenty of problems, and we've seen how Voronin takes his chances.

It'd be pretty interesting to watch.

OR

We could just play it safe and retain possesion with Masch and Alonso in midfield and Kuyt and Voronin in front.

Rotation is the order of the day with Chelsea on the weekend:

Reina

Finnan
Carra/Agger (I'm undecided, and Fantasy Rafa is doing my head in)
Hyypia
Arbeloa

Yossi
Masch
Momo
Kewell

Voronin
Crouch

However, I won't be surprised to see Gerrard start and be subbed early by Mascherano, nor would I be surprised if he watches it from home - has the team travelled yet - who has gone?

I agree. Rafa will undoubtedly make some changes from Saturdays starting 11 but hopefully Gerrard and Torres will not be among them. Knock in a couple of away goals and then maybe give Gerrard and Carragher a "rest" by bringing on Alonso  and Hypia.

I'd like to see us start with.

.                              Reina

.    Finnan        Carragher   Agger       Arbeloa

.  Benayoun      Gerrard       Masherano       Babel

.                                  Torres
.                       Crouch

Yepp I'd go along with this, we need a good solid win in this game. To be honest I think the result against Lyon was a bit of a freak in the same way that Reading got a draw at Old Trafford.

Yeah, the Daily Mail has claimed that Pennant has been left at home with Mascherano, Crouch & Benayoun returning to the squad.

I'm not even going to bother attempting to predict the team on here. This is the sort of game where you'd be lucky to get six out of eleven right. :D

Lyon missed chances v Toulouse. They didnt deserve to lose.  Kalstrom got sent off so they were down to 10 men.  Was a nice finish though for the goal.

Hello liverpool fans,

I am from Toulouse. I've lived for one year in England (in Bicester near Oxford) and Liverpool is my prefered team in Europe but ... after Toulouse and for this match I will be behind my team ! For your information, our team should be :

Douchez
Ebondo-Dieuze-Cetto-Matthieu
Sissoko-Siriex
Cesar-Emana-Begougnoux
Elmander

I'm quite sure you don't know any of our players and as I read previously you should beat us easily but ... we never know. Elmander is our best player together with Achille Emana, the offensive midfielder. And since the last transfer period, we have a team of Rugbymen (>1.80 m and > 80 kg) :p Our coach is also very good to adapt the tactics to the opponent. And no ! Lyon didn't deserve to win last saturday :p. They had a totally justified red card because Kallstrom spit against the referee ! And Toulouse had many occasions to score before the goal at the 90th minutes !

It's so funny to see that in the liverpool forums you consider this match as a little show whereas it is the game of the century for us. :D

And prepare yours sunshades, it is going to be hot in Toulouse (more than 33°C) ! Anyway, good luck and hope to see a good match !
