---------------Diego
Degen--Hyppia---San Jose--Insua
El Zhar--Plessis--Leiva--Babel
---------Nemeth--Ngog

Spurs will probably field a full team side as its perhaps their only chance at silverware. i personally want to see the team above. in fact, i would not mind seeing Vitor Flora.

I wouldn't even allow any senior players to travel to Spurs, with the exception of Torres who needs games under his belt.

Team that started against Crewe in the previous round:

Cavalieri; Degen, Hyypia, Agger, Insua; Pennant, Lucas, Plessis, El Zhar; N'Gog Babel

And I'd go along with something similar...

Id go with this little number...

Diego

Darby  Carra  Hyypia  Insua

Pennant  Spearing  Plessis  Babel

           Lucas

                    Torres

Give Torres a good run out, give the reserve/youth midfield pairing a good run out against decent opposition and see what happens. Give our two young full backs and good run out aswell.

Rather funny we whinge about rotation and yet advocate rotating the team because the competition is "not worthy". I'd rest a few players, but some need minutes on the pitch and why should we simply roll over because a few on here don't have any time for this cup competition. I wouldn't field the strongest XI, but we may come to regret writing off the competition if we're potless come May.

So a balance, Cavalieri in goal, play one of our usual CBs alongside Hyypia who needs time on the pitch in case further injury blights us. Maybe give Degen a game if fit, see if he can avoid injury this round. I'm not sure it's worth playing a DM, we should look to win but either way I wouldn't want it to go to ET and/or pens. Pennant and Benayoun can play on the flanks, put Lucas in the middle with Keane, Torres, N'Gog and Babel playing some part as the front two ie start with Torres and N'Gog, bring on Keane and Babel to give them all some kind of part but not over-exert themselves.

While playing the kids might be ok for early rounds, lower league sides etc, how do you give playing time to those who might need it like Pennant, Hyypia, N'Gog and others who may be called upon to fill in if Carra, Kuyt, Keane etc got injured? It's 'nice' to give the kids a run out, however they're not the ones that will be called upon to fill any gaps when senior players get injured.

I wonder what odds you could get for predicting the correct lineup?

if we play too much of a weakened team we'll get drummed. I dont mind losing in this competition providing its a sneaky 1-0 to a team like Barnsley or a lower league team who would financially benifit from getting as far as they can in this cup, but to lose to spurs is NOT an option.

Tue 11 Nov, 01:30 PM

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will make a late decision on whether to start with Fernando Torres in Wednesday's Carling Cup clash at Tottenham.Torres is in need of match fitness after missing six games with a hamstring injury and is expected to feature in the fourth-round tie at White Hart Lane while Benitez rests several of his other stars, including Steven Gerrard.

Second-choice goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri, Sami Hyypia, Yossi Benayoun and Jermaine Pennant are expected to play.

Reds (from): Cavalieri, Arbeloa, Carragher, Hyypia, Dossena, Benayoun, Lucas, Alonso, Babel, Torres, Keane, Ngog, Pennant, Insua, Spearing, El Zhar, Plessis, Reina, Degen.

The Ressies had a friendly last night and this was the team

Liverpool team: Dean Bouzanis, Emmanuel Mendy, Martin Kelly, Daniel Ayala, Mikel San Jose (Ronald Huth 45), Steven Irwin, Ryan Crowther (Andras Simon 45), Jay Spearing (Francisco Duran 70), Vitor Flora (Jordy Brouwer 45), Daniel Pacheco (Gerardo Bruna 45), Vincent Weijl (Ryan Flynn 45).

IT looks like Darby, Plessis and Insua are in the Squad for tomorrow cause they took no part last night

Will Spurs field a full team given they are defending this cup?
