Looks like Nando and Cisse have slight injuries from international duty.  Crouch is just coming back from injury, as are FSP and Mellor.

What is it about our strikers that makes them ALL get injured?  It was the same last season.

Yes.

An away win at Tottenham would boost the team's (and hopefully the strikers') confidence.

We'll need it against teams like Man U and Chelsea.

I think we are going to see a squad rotation either Saturday or the following Tuesday. Tottenham, Betis and Manchester in a short period of time..

Its a good point about having Gerrard sub, although most might disagree he looks absolutely shattered and in the 2 Englang games he should of been subbed at halftime.
I hope he is sub, and Rafa brings him on last half hour.
He needs to regain his fitness slowly.

yeah.......it looks like gerrard has to be given a few games to come back into form.....focking sven. How can let a player who just came back from injury play over 150 mins (for 2 games within 4 days)......

yeah, i think we should take it easy with gerrard...don't want any more injuries....

I did think that Gerrard looked fucked during the England game, and with only 2 days in between, maybe it would be wise to use some of the players that weren’t over used in the internationals.

Hamann and Zenden didn’t link up with Germany and Holland, so I would include both in the starting line up. I think Cisse, Pongolle and Gerrard would be rarely useful as impact players during the second half.

I know in an ideal world we would put our strongest team out every game, but we don’t live in an ideal world. Even Chelsea are into the whole squad rotation thing, Mournhio realised that his players ran out of steam towards the end of last season and their performance levels dropped.

So during the course of the season lets make use of all the players we have, after all isn’t that one of the reasons for having a strong squad. It is a fine balancing act between resting players and not weakening your team too much, but that’s what the boss gets paid for.
