This kid is the future he is amazing 15mil would be an absolute steal IMHO thats the kind of player we need he could create something out of nothing and natural dribblers are very rare in today's game.

he has scored a hat full of goals but does seem a bit of a wild card? in his youth, just makes you wonder has he grown up yet or is he still that way, i know when you are young ( oh those long gone years  ) you do silly things you regrete.

if he has grown up a bit and with the helping hand of a few older heads at anfield then he looks like someone that could do it for us

He's as fast as Torres Mick (Arshavin, that is)

hi fellas,
i'm new to this forum, but have been reading it for several months now.
i think zarate will be a great buy. The few games, when he came on in the games for birmingham, he really impressed me.
Although it may be that he comes on when defenders are getting tired, but still, the kid looks good.
read some reports that he would cost 15million pounds though.

Michael Owen would be the best partner for Torres.

After all, he looks pretty good in that Nintendo Wii advert doesn't he?

That's a bit steep!

Berbatov's a good shout i think. I've seen Huntelaar a few times this year and he looks decent aswell.

But my favourite would be Villa. I think the knowledge they have of each other from Spain could only be beneficial, and although it isn't the tallest top two you'll ever find, and not the smallest, we don't need height the way we play. Villa FTW.

Rick Parry will begin looking for new players to sign, one day before the transfer window closes.

nah owen wudn't be that good of a partner, granted hes fast but hes to injury prone and also they have got used to the way he plays , they lob the ball and off he goes, but a player of arshavin and babels quality wud out do him they both got pace and control, and also rafa has since february, had a scout placed on this incredible kid winger called matias fernandez, i wud say a 4 3 2 1 comes to mind
with arshavin and babel behind torres, and then fernandez  can play left wing
take look if you like! :-

Depends on what we need.

As I see it, there are various types of strikers.

A- The "second man behind the CF" who will get the ball from the midfield and be creative and pass the ball to Torres.

B- The "tall freak" like Crouch or Horseface who collects balls from crosses on his chest or wins headers which Torres can then tuck away.

C- The "predator" like Michael Owen who like Torres will collect the ball, run to the goal then kick the ball into the net and score a goal.

D- The "tap in man" like Ian Rush or Gary Lineker who just hangs around the penalty box and if the ball comes to him, he scores.

E- The "Clearasil man" like Ronaldo, who is exceptionally talented and fast and operates like a quasi-striker/quasi-midfielder (or in Tevez's case quasi-Modo).

I was at the game last night (with a notepad and pen :D ).

Arshavin was a level ahead of every player on the pitch, even if at times he could've done better with his delivery.

He is exactly as Scott describes, very intelligent - he has unbelievable vision, always looking to infiltrate space, technically superb - touch/dribbling is excellent, quick, can beat a man and put in a cross. He is always looking for the killer through-ball - which he specialises in, and he is nimble enough to play as a second striker.

He drifted a hell of a lot throughout the game, from wide left to right, inside left to right, to centre, essentially - wherever he could find space.

That stood out for me - his positional sense was fantastic.

Despite drifting out wide on occasions, he is not a winger, although I'm quite certain he could play on either side up top in our 4-5-1 formation. His ideal position for me is as a second striker or as an attacking CM. In style, I'd compare him to Nedved.

Admittedly, Rangers were very poor, and I'm stunned they've managed to get this far with the group of players they have.

If you think Voronin's poor, take a look at Kirk Broadfoot.

They couldn't retain possession, and they had no link between midfield and attack - Barty Ferguson was deployed in a second striker role - much like Gerrard in our system - only playing deeper, as they are much more defensive in Europe. He's never a second striker or ACM in a million years, and Darcheville had little to work off - not that he's that good anyway as he'd struggle to get in a top 10 EPL side.

It's difficult to come to a conclusion as to whether Arshavin would be good enough for us, given that last night was the only time I've seen him play live.

Having said that, I can say that at worst he'd be a solid backup, and at best he'd be the perfect solution for us - he'd fit in as a second striker or on the left or right in a 4-5-1.

Overall, I gleaned enough from the game to conclude that, even in spite of the quality of the opposition, Arshavin is good enough to play at the very least for a team in the EPL fighting for 5th place. Above that, it's difficult to say, but I'm fairly certain he could play for us very successfully.

*Prays he doesn't move on and turn out to be sh!te*
