I have learned to prefer to stay in the background, to let people around me take the spotlight, something I've never been comfortable with. I've never forgotten, thanks to my dad, the importance of the 'other person.' Of course there have been occasions where I haven't been able to avoid the plaudits, or to be in the headlines, but I have always preferred the people closest to me to get the attention.

Cracking interview from Torres, he seems very modest and a very nice well balanced person. Thanks for posting it Metalhead.

Yup. It's pointless to deny that he's been great, and it would be unfair not to acknowledge Torres' game this season. He keeps learning, he keeps fighting, I got it all wrong.

However, it písses me off to see the likes of Relaño and those fúcwits ready to give stick to Torres as soon as they can. There are still a lot of stubborn anti torres people in our country.

Absotely.

I expect that his goals the next season help LFC to win the premier. Spain didn´t win since 1964, and he scored the final goal, why not here?

Let God hear you mate. That would make me very happy, and when it comes to club football I don't taste the sweet side of football from a while ago.

Probably just reading to far into it. I guess one day he would like to return home.

Didn't he mean that he'd like to captain a team other than Atletico? He captained them...
Maybe? Possibly? Please...?

Pah, don't read too much in that "another".

If the interview was in Spanish that "otro" might indicate that he's talking about Liverpool and refer to his Atletico captaincy as his first experience. It's an interpretation, and there are many but I wouldn't read too much into that: Torres is enjoying his football, he's got the first spot for national squad while in Liverpool, he's being paid in Liverpool to the level of top Spanish clubs, he'll be a lot of years here.

When I read it I first thought he wanted to replace Stevie some day.

Sometimes I wish footballers cared more about football than the money. It would make it easier to join Liverpool. But then again I don't blame them for biting at the bigger offer. Glad Torres cares about his football more than Chelsea's waving wallet.
