Chances are both sides will field a weakened team for that game mate.

Not sure Wenger will field a weakened side if the titles up for grabs.....
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

grant's not got a clue?? - 10 wins and 2 draws in his last 12 league games says dfferent.

I'm sorry but like it or not chelsea will finish above us this year.

utd will beat bolton, villa  and blackburn. i'd put money on it if i could bring myself to bet on utd.

Dont forget, as rafa-dodd says 0 points from 9 is still a real possibility for us (i dont think that will happen, but its just as possible!).

remember this thread? -  3 points system thread

- we discused at length the matches we thought utd, arsenal and chelsea would drop points in.  - They didnt. and infact we dropped more points than they did.

As much as i love the optimism and would love to be wrong on this issue: we will not win every game from now till the end of the season. we will drop points too.

If Boro can get a draw at the Genericates Stadium then why can't we win when we play Arsenal?

As long as teams remember that a match ends after 90 mins plus added time, Arsenal can be beaten at home.

Why would u not rest players.

Our side is tiring and some needs to be rested to be sharp for the 3 games at arsenal especially at the emirates where we need to be on top of the game for the full 90 mins.If we were tired against reading... imagine arsenal.

Did u watch everton aginst fulham ... they are also are tired squad. So you have to keep an eye on 4th place and the prem cos it aint over yet or would you rest some for europe ??

Wat ever rafa does and if he gets  the results(or not) fair play cos he brought that gap back to 8 points  :buttrock

why wouldn't people want to rest players? Who do you rest? Torres (meaning we don't score) Gerrard (meaning we don't have his ability) Reina (meaning we don't have a proper keeper) Carra (meaning our best defender is out) Mascheranho.

You don't rest your best players and there's no need to rest the others.

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

NO RESTING

These guys are finely tuned athletes.

ALL wins from now until the end of the season.

They need to man up and show some balls (except for Gerrard who showed his balls and DIC in a YouTube video).

We need to bend Everscum over and bang them like Rooney and an old granny.

well let's get the utd game out the way before we start debating whether to rest players at everton shall we? - everton have west (we like losing 4-0) ham at home, and we have utd away, so come the derby game ther is the distinct possibility we could be back on the same points as them again, fighting for 4th place. lets not count our chickens, and take each game as it comes.

More important than winning the league to finish above Everton ?

IF we won hte league then we would by default have finished above Everton.

For the record, I dont think we have a chance, but there will be a few with egg on their faces when we are within 2 wins, which is a distinct possiblity.

Not impossible but we have no chance.

Here ya go try for yourself, just fill in the results of the top 4 teams and you'll see it will be very hard.

Just did the predictor thing, it was like some kind of wonderful dream to look at liverpool at the top of the table at the end. About the question, i think it's beyond us, but if we can make an improvement on the distance between us and the eventual winners (i think its 8 points under rafa), i'll be content

I agree with just about all of that, though I'd probably disagree about who'd have egg on their faces not that it's important. I can't help wondering if we hadn't belatedly adopted this consistency of selection where we might actually have got to, and whether anybody would have been concerned at all about eggs and faces.

When you see Chelsea right in the thick of things, in severe danger of winning the thing if they're not careful (although it'll no doubt be the Mancs) it really does make you wonder. I'm convinced we are at least their equal, they've had huge injury problems all season, have changed their manager and lost a fair few first team players to the African nations Cup, and yet they would probably win it if they won every game from here on in. I'm 100% of the opinion that the title race should be a four way fight and it would be if we had adopted this selection system from the start of the season.

Whatever though, and whoever anyone thinks is currently being proven right, we are certainly at an interesting stage of the campaign. Assuming we stick with the non "Rafa style" method, it'll be really interesting to see how we go over the next couple of weeks. It'll hopefully be the first time we've played any of the other big clubs away from home under Rafa where we go in with momentum and a settled team. My hope is that even if we do come off on the wrong side in a couple of games, we don't ditch the progress we have made over the last few weeks.

The only certainty of course should we go with a settled team is that win lose or draw, those of us who have voiced negative opinions will pick up flak. If we win, it'll be "where are all the Rafa haters now?". If we lose, it'll be "so much for cohesion and rhythm brought about by less rotation". All is good, like I said it doesn't really matter who was right and wrong all along, as long as the club gets there in the end. As I pointed out on another thread, if we sign a couple of players in the Summer and go into next season with our current "sensible" rotationary mindset, hopefully we can win it and everyone can claim they were right.

I thought you were of the opinion that this spell of wins probably wasn't in any great way down to a more consistent team selection, more down to the fact that the pressure was on and we had a relatively easy set of games in the league?
