It does happen but sometimes i think its a poor excuse. On this occassion, its the first 90 minute competative match against a half decent side, its going to take its toll. Probably by the third game i'd expect the players to be fully fit.

It must be terrible being a Pro. footballer. It must really knacker you out
I suppose by the time Cisse gets home from sowing seeds on his dads farm and walks the 5 miles to Melwood, and Baros gets home from his day on the building site, and cycles the 18 miles to Melwood fom his third story council flat. It must really tire you out. On top of that they expect these players to play 90 MINUTES on a Saturday, tut, tut, I ask you!
Its small comfort that they the modern day EPL footballer earns 50K per week.................I suppose having to do a day job, walk and cycle to training and play football with all that money in your back pocket, you are bound to be fcuking tired!!!!
Give me a break ffs!!!!

Start of a season your fit but not match fit totally even if they are full time
Liverpools players have improved on their fitness over the last few years but the first game does mean that they probably did start to look jaded.
The money is ridiculous but it is an economic fact and if any of us played we would get tired as well its the players who dont make the effort to begin with that wind me up.

I do not buy into that whatsoever, tiredness is in the mind. If we was winning tackles all over the park, passing and moving throughout the match and were 2 - 3 goals up, believe me we would not have been tired.
akumaface wrote:Actually, I think our team had a habit of dozing off in the second half. We had the same problem last year. LFC is known in HK as a "60 minutes team". I really don't know what's the problem but I think its more mental than physical.
taff wrote:Yeah cos the adrenalin gets to you and I agree that the confidence thing plays a big part as you cant wait to play instead of using energy up in nervous tension but it still does not detract from the fact that tiredness is a physical reality more than a mental one and the last thing Benitez wants is risk to injuries etc.
