Its a hell of a gamble getting rid of the potential he has to one of our rivals, especially if he turns it on for them. I know he isnt playing up to standard but theres no questioning his talent, however there is something wrong with the lad and its certainly not that he has lost his skill behind the sofa. Its a personality thing I think, its got to him and if he cant mentally turn it round in his own head then the only way he will return to his best is a move away Im afraid. I dont want that to happen and he will get my continued support, no offence those who diss but essentially you are also dissing the manager. If he is as bad as you think then there is no way he should be near the first team squad, he should be isolated with just his fitness regieme and motivator as company. If Rafa is unable to see what is apparently blatently obvious is he really going to be the man that takes us back to the top?
I really do feel that Kewell has now become synomonous with the clubs false dawns but lets not forget its a team game. Is Hypia the Rock he once was, there was a time when he was man of the match every week without fail. Has Dudek returned to the form of his first year, or Riise? Are our youngsters up to the standard of Arsenals?
IMO if you put a fit Harry Kewell on the left of a settled, strong team with attacking instincts but a strong enough back line to give him the freedom he needs we will again have 15million pound world class player. At the moment our team is having to make up what we lack with team spirit and effort. Thats not in Kewells remit and I defy anyone who would have bought him on that basis. We bought him to create goals for Owen at the time not to fill in the full back hole when Traore/Riise goes forward. Lets give the guy a break coz lets face it its more likely he will succed with us behind him as oppossed to adding to his probs.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.
