Times up - Mr kewell

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I know there has been many a debate over Harry and i like most have been saying he will come back to his best soon, well after watching last nights performance he has clearly got to go. Now i know there were not many positives or good performances (with the exception of Carra) but Kewell was the worst of the lot. He doesnt bring anything to the team, no passion and a great lack of confidence which can be infectious to the rest of the team.
I have always hoped he would come back to his best - like he showed at leads because he is a likable character and was an awsome talent but playing for LFC he doesnt show any willingness on the pitch to fight for balls, doesnt take any one on and doent seem comfortable on the ball.
i know i may get some flack for this and i am not just posting it because we lost and slagging off a few players - its time to for him to go.

agree with that apart from one thing, id have added riise, hamann, finnan and hyypia to that list......But only once there replacements are in.
Chopper:Look, you're not still angry at me about the leg, are you?
Neville Bartos : Nah, forget about it.
Chopper : Because I don't know if you remember, Neville, but I had that bloody shotgun pointed at your head. I reconsidered and dropped it down to your kneecap. Remember?

If Kewell still has that ankle problem affecting him, why his he still playing. He should come back to the team fully recovered.

rafa said last week his still unfit so maybe needs to be dropped but getting rid of him is stupid,he leaves and goes to another club and starts perfoming well. Then we will be saying why did we force kewell out ???

I think criticism of Kewell based on last nights performance is a bit unfair.
He came on to join a team that was already dispirited and beaten. There was no discernable service from defence into mid-field and beyond, he was also sent on to play out of position, Warnock had already been pushed into his slot. Talk about being given a hopeless task, that was it.
If you wish to go slagging off players, look at the ones who were on for the first 60 min's, I didn't see much to be proud off in that period, Balls booted out of defence, lost and mis-placed passes in mid-field, no width, no running down channels, clumsey forward play etc.
The only area to show any competence was in the last ditch tackling and man-marking. - Got that one right lad's, now let's start working forwards !!

He might not be that great, but don't blame Kewell for last night !!

If we sell him, who do we replace him with?
There is no exactly a surplus of good left sided players around here... Perhaps we should go for Giggsy! :p

Its a hell of a gamble getting rid of the potential he has to one of our rivals, especially if he turns it on for them. I know he isnt playing up to standard but theres no questioning his talent, however there is something wrong with the lad and its certainly not that he has lost his skill behind the sofa. Its a personality thing I think, its got to him and if he cant mentally turn it round in his own head then the only way he will return to his best is a move away Im afraid. I dont want that to happen and he will get my continued support, no offence those who diss but essentially you are also dissing the manager. If he is as bad as you think then there is no way he should be near the first team squad, he should be isolated with just his fitness regieme and motivator as company. If Rafa is unable to see what is apparently blatently obvious is he really going to be the man that takes us back to the top?
I really do feel that Kewell has now become synomonous with the clubs false dawns but lets not forget its a team game. Is Hypia the Rock he once was, there was a time when he was man of the match every week without fail. Has Dudek returned to the form of his first year, or Riise? Are our youngsters up to the standard of Arsenals?
IMO if you put a fit Harry Kewell on the left of a settled, strong team with attacking instincts but a strong enough back line to give him the freedom he needs we will again have 15million pound world class player. At the moment our team is having to make up what we lack with team spirit and effort. Thats not in Kewells remit and I defy anyone who would have bought him on that basis. We bought him to create goals for Owen at the time not to fill in the full back hole when Traore/Riise goes forward. Lets give the guy a break coz lets face it its more likely he will succed with us behind him as oppossed to adding to his probs.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

In two years time I would not expect to see any more than two or three players from last nights starting line up, appearing for the club. I think Rafa has had his hand of cards fully exposed to him by now and he will not have been impressed by much of it. :(

Rafa talks of balance, consistency, strong mentality and a good work ethic.

These are words that you wouldn't associate with a luxury player like Kewell, i.e., scores 1 fancy goal every 2 seasons and does FA in between.

We will see what Rafa does in january!   I would like to see Martin Petrov in a Liverpool shirt. He can play left wing or attacker. Did anyone see him in summer? He played well on the left side for Bulgaria.

I wish everyone would stop it with this kewell nonsense, he has quite obviously been carrying an injury for the past year and is now suffering from that injury fitness wise. It is very hard for a player no matter how experienced or well paid to put something like this to the back of their mind and continue to play to the best of their ability. Im sure that once has recovered from this injury properly and gets back to 100% fitness we then may see the best of him. Give him a break and get behind him like a true supporter should.

I knew i would get a mixed response from this post and this forum is all about peoples own opinions and in mine Kewell isnt and wont be good enough to play for LFC. i have always in the past made excuses for Harry, saying about his injury etc...... but he has many chances to perform and shine but every time he plays (maybe apart from the odd game when he scores and unbelivable goal) he does absolutley nothing but give the ball away. When was the last time you saw Kewell take someone on like he did at leeds and if he is carrying an injury why the hell play him, are you trying to tell me that a 75% fit HArry Kewell is more effective than a 100% fit Warnock / Risle (if playing on the left).
These coming weeks are going to be tough, we know that as does Raffa so i dont think we can afford to feild a player who has no confidence, maybe injured and probably carrying about a stone too much, he is too much of a liability at present.
A question for the people asking who can we replace Kewell with is what position is he most effective and who couldnt replace him.
I agree that everyone played terrible except JC but this post was based on the season so far not just on the Monaco game
