Guiza scores in the 88th and 89th to make it 2-1 to Spain, then a cracking FK by south africa in the 93rd brings it to ET.

All rieras fault they got that fk, stupid foul.

Spain looking way average.

Spain notices it when Xavi and Iniesta are not there, but I wouldn't say they were average.

I think Spain faced a South African team that are better than most European teams, and the USA. The Bafana Bafana are a good squad, and they like to keep the ball. I think aswell Spain were denied a legal goal that wasn't an offside, not to mention a blatant penalty the Aussie ref (who was awful) didn't want to concede.

I think it has a good opportunity to play in the next World cup scenario, try out alternatives for when Xavi, Silva or Iniesta, Puyol or our best strikers are not available, and a good place to learn from mistakes.

Yes, USA beat Spain and we cannot blame refs of that, but I honestly think that out of 10 games, we'd beat them 9 times.

I'm a bit worried that Torres ended up with ice in his knee, it doesn't seem serious, though.

Good goal from Alonso and I cannot blame Riera for that foul, he jumped, and the opposition player crouched, not a foul of the Spaniard the way we understand the rules in this part of the world.

True, they weren't average, but I'm always pretty critical and they weren't playing top gear.  Wanted more from Villa/Torres, but your right about Xavi/Iniesta.

I still dont rate South Africa though, I guess we'll find out in the WC before but they were a pretty normal side in the groups, and I think the Brazil/Spain matches were just small bursts of good form.

As for the foul, I thought it was soft but legit enough for a free kick that far out.  But on a different side of the world, as you said  :)

Sabre, how do you think Torres-Guiza partnership would be?  Just seems a lot of times Torres-Villa dont click unless they have Xavi and Iniesta setting them up perfectly, and Guiza's second goal was absolutely amazing.

I wouldn't mind having Onyewu in our team. What a beast. I'm sad to say that Howard is awesome too. This result would be great for football.
