The team - Are we the new brazil ? ! lol

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Now before you laugh I don't mean are we Brazil in terms of the way we play although we do have a Yellow Strip  :Oo:

No, what i'm alluding to is does anyone else agree with me that we have become the team that everyone wants to watch recently ?

Every premiership game we have played with the exception of the West Ham home tie has been aired on SKY, we have scored some fantastic goals to boot and even when we went down to the Bluenoses we created 21 shots on or off target.....

I personally don't watch SKY as I'm fortunate enough to have a season ticket and see most of the games Live and take it from me we have a "look" about us thats easy on the eye and a joy to watch.

Does this mean we will win the League ? Who knows.

Does it mean we have finally broke SKY'S obsession with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U ? I think so.

Chelsea are not particulalrly pleasing on the eye, United look like a team living on memories and Arsenal haven't hit any type of form yet which leaves Liverpool Football Club to fly the flag for the Premiership.

Its not just Stevie G anymore, In Alonso we have a football purists dream, Sissoko satisfies the fan who appreciates hard work and endeavour, Bellamy looks like he's going to explode at any time, Rocket man Riise produces moments of power, Carragher is the home grown "Local Boy Down good", Agger secures the Sacnadanavian vote and I haven't even mentioned Bad Boy Pennant or "speedy" Gonzales ....... :D

I think definately we are one of the best teams to watch, we play with wide players and now that Rafa has a better squad we go into every game wanting/expecting to win.
I dont think that was the case at the start of last season when we were starting vital matches with just Crouch upfront.

I also think that we are most clubs 2nd team, i hate that sort of tag tbh...it reminds me of Newcastle but after the recent success we have had and the way it happened its inevitable...also we are not the type of people that need to shout it from the rooftops or try and rub opponents noses in it. Rafa despite being foreign either is in the same mould as the likes of Paisley and Shanks...or he has done alot of studying and knows that as well as winning the club has to show class and humility....sorry for the rambling i've had a few bevvies...but i think that has alot to do with why other fans have an affection for our club.

We are definitely a great team to watch when things click.  Our second half against Tottenham showed some of our true capabilities.  It was great stuff.  Also, we have a knack of scoring fine goals from all distances.  :D

Sorry to burst your bubble, but:

1.  We've had a lot of lunchtime (12:45) kickoffs.
2.  Usually only one team each week has a lunchtime kickoff.

We are shown on telly because we are, quite literally, the only game in town!...

Ermmm...

You may find that we've had a lot of lunch time kick-offs because Sky wants to televise our games.  It sure isn't the club's choice to ask for lunch time kick offs and it is far too frequent to be a matter of genuine chance from the fixture computer.  We have been selected to play early quite frequently because we are a big draw for Sky.

(And I, for one, am grateful because it means I'm guaranteed to see the lads over here whenever they have the early kick off!)

Alan Pardew also said that he doesn't know any team that hits shots and scores as many goals as LFC do from outside the box..... he then reeled off the players we have who do it.... Stevie, Riise, Xabi, Agger.... Just 4 who've done it already this season....

Slightly off topic but I see the pundits still don't rate us, even if the neutral fans like watching us.

Check out soccernet's team of the week HERE

                Thomas Sorensen

Micah Richards      Ibrahima Sonko     Titus Bramble

Danny Murphy Robbie Savage Frank Lampard Christiano Ronaldo

                                  Georgios Samaras

               Marlon King   Thierry Henry

Manager: Steve Coppell

And here's their explanations:
Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen made a great save to deny Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink after only four minutes and continued in the same form for the rest of the match as Villa maintained their unbeaten record with a 2-0 win over Charlton.

In defence Manchester City's Micah Richards wins his place after an indefatigable show of pace and power as City beat West Ham 2-0 to lift the mounting pressure on manager Stuart Pearce.

Joining the youngster is Reading centre-back Ibrahima Sonko, who denied wave after wave of attack as Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at the Madejski Stadium. The fans chant of 'Sonko is Superman' just about sums it up.

Titus Bramble was at the heart of everything Everton did well in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle. The Magpies defender let his man go on multiple occasions, failed to make key tackles, could have concede a penalty, stood and watched as Tim Cahill headed Everton's goal at the back post and then got sent-off......this is Team Of The Weak isn't it?

In midfield Danny Murphy made a rare start for Tottenham Hotspur against his former club Liverpool and his guile helped create at least two guilt-edged chances that his colleagues spurned before the Reds went on to win 3-0. He outshone both Xavi Alonso and Steven Gerrard.

Robbie Savage inspired his team-mates to victory with a display of running and battling that only stopped when he twice had to change ripped clothing - sustained during his combative display.

Following weeks of criticism Frank Lampard wins his place back in our Team of the Week after netting both goals in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Fulham. His goal from the spot put an end to the doubts over his ability to take penalties.

Usually dazzling and frustrating in equal measure Cristiano Ronaldo tipped the balance in his favour with the equalising goal against Reading. After delivering a number of crosses that his team-mates failed to convert the winger took things into his own hands with a top quality finish.

Thierry Henry returned to the Arsenal attack hungrier than ever and after a spell on the sidelines. He managed to create both goals before scoring the third himself as the Gunners beat a stubborn Sheffield United side 3-0.

Marlon King may not have scored in the 1-1 draw with Wigan but his bustling, hardworking style suits Watford's long-ball game and he caused trouble all afternoon. He was unlucky not to score when his shot hit the post and bounced into the keepers arms.

Greek striker Georgios Samaras blows hot and cold but on Saturday he was functioning at scorching levels as he netted both goals for Manchester City with a top level of technical ability.

----------------------
Are they having a laugh?

Danny Murphy better than Alonso and Gerrard yesterday?  Excuse me, I didn't see Murphy skip around the left fullback and whip in a cross to set up a goal.  Or boss the game in midfield. :no

Marlon King doesn't even score and he gets a nod ahead of Kuyt, who netted a belter?  Come on!

And don't even get me started on Titus f.ucking Bramble!  Any one of our back four deserves a nod ahead of that spanner.

The anti-Liverpool bias this season is really starting to get on my t!ts.  It's as if every pundit in the land has decided that we are merely pretenders to the throne and are out to slag us off or ignore our quality every week.  WTF!  :veryangry

So far we've only scored 8 goals in the PL--less than Everton!

What exactly is your point with this stat?  There's been six games played and we're just now finding some form.  Are we to be surprised that we're trailing the teams above us in the table in terms of goals scored?

We've certainly struggled a bit this season and thus, not surprisingly, our goal tally is down as is our place in the league table.  But, it's not radically off the pace. The Mancs lead the league with 12 scored but look who they've played.  We have undoubtedly had a tougher fixture list then they have and we're still only a few goals shy of their tally.

Actually, 8 goals from 6 games is a decent return.  Looking at our home record, we're talking about 7 goals from 3 games--which is outstanding.  We need to improve our goal scoring on the road, obviously, but the goals, the cleansheets and the points are starting to come.
