The summers biggest signing. - Rafa must get him!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Javier Mascherano. This lad is gold & if we sign one player in the summer it must be Mascher because he has been the biggest reason we're going to Athens. The injury to Momo seems to have upset his form & Xabi is totally out of sorts. I could never see where Mascherano fitted into the Liverpool lineup but he's done what was asked & basically demended to be played every week through amazing performances. I'm sad for the players he's deposed but if the lad keeps playing like this I dont care.

I thought we'd signed him  ???
Wasn't it on an 18 month loan but then we had to sign him because of the dual owner problem, like west ham with Tevez?
Can any one clear this up?

Argentinian international Javier Mascherano joined Liverpool in January 2007 after the Premier League approved his transfer from West Ham.

The 22-year-old Argentinian international becomes the most high-profile of the Reds' transfer window signings and will offer Benitez more options in the centre of midfield.

He began his professional career with South American giants River Plate. Such was his potential that he earned an senior international call-up before kicking a ball for River. He'd already represented his country in both the FIFA Youth and Under-17 World Championships.

In 2004, Mascherano was part of the Argentina side which won gold at the Olympic Games.

The midfield anchorman moved to Brazilian club Corinthians the following year, immediately helping them to win the Campeonato Brasileiro.

By this time he'd become a regular international and, thanks to a series of fine displays in the 2006 World Cup, was known by football fans across the globe.

Mascherano's performances in Germany led to links with several of Europe's top clubs, though West Ham eventually clinched his signature alongside that of countryman Carlos Tevez.

He played just seven times for The Hammers before heading north to Merseyside.

Ok guys seriously is he here on a long loan or permanent?

Even if hes here on loan I can imagine him wanting to play for another club after Rafa bringing his career back up again and with getting to a European Cup final surley he would want to stay.

He is on loan with an option to buy him at the end of 18 months.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Here's the 2 possible things I have heard.

1) We have signed him on a 18 month loan for £1.5m with the option to buy him for £17m anytime during that period.

2) Because of the complications we had to sign him for £10m.

Either way I WANT US to sign him.

For me he's already on his way to being a lot better than Makalele and thats a very high compliment as Maka is the MAIN reason Chelsea won the title the last 2 years and for me is one of the most useful players in the world.

I think strikers have to be the biggest priority, not saying Mascherano isn't good but out goals for column is sadly lacking and we need more firepower
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

According to Manhattan's sources, we have signed Mascherano on a permanent deal. The contract also stipulates that we own his descendents for seven generations henceforth and his soul in the event of an afterlife.
