Some of you Reds out there I believe, are being overly critical of Garcia. It's only his first season here and can't be used to the Prem's unique pace and style.  I believe given time and support he'll prove to be a quality asset - shame I can't mention Kewell in that statement as he owes us a fair few decent performances.

i think we need our full squad back and a few signing in the summer or even now cos the transfer window hasnt closed yet and competition for places will improve performances

The good thing about Garcia is he gets a lot of the ball ,Learning to use it will come in time hopefully sooner rather than later

For me the problem is more to do with his finishing.

He gets loads of ball and does some great work but that final pass, shot, cross is lacking. To me this is a bit like Smicer was, so this is something he needs to work on.

Jesus I cant believe peeps are getting on Garcias back already, It wasnt so long ago that us fans were calling for a 'Litmanan' type player to link defence and attack. For all the reasons above he deserves time but he plays an important role and once he becomes more productive with the ball we will have an exceptional and important player on our hands. He is one of the few players who can do something different in our side, lets not forget that its no coincidence that his arrival was coupled with our new found ability to break down the so called 'lesser' teams at Anfield. Even when he plays poorley he still is getting forward and joining the attack which pulls their defence outta position giving our strikers a bit of space and support, cannone of you remember how under GH we would have the ball on the edge of the box for 90mins and not be able to unlock the defence
.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

what we need to remember is that benitez is building a squad for the future, this season is already an improvement in my eyes

Hi everybody,
I'm a catalan expatriate living in Luxembourg. I begin to support the Reds when Benitez become the manager. Despite being a Barcelona supporter, I've always admired the work that Benitez did in Valencia. He is always thinking football, preparing all the details, very meticulous and I predict you a prosper era under his management.
On the Garcia side, you must know that Garcia was in the plans of Rijkaard and he didn't want him to leave. You're right that he needs more accuracy finishing his actions but he is one of few players at Liverpool that can create his own opportunities. His pace and his ability make that he has at least one or two goal opportunities every game. Remove him and you will miss him.
For the rest of the spaniards, nothing more to say about Alonso and Morientes, both are World class; Josemi will never be more than a rotation staff and Nunez nobody in  spain knows him in Spain but it seems that Benitez has followed him since along time. I think, the principal problem for Benitez could be making recruitement under pressure of instant results.

(sorry for my english)

Welcome to the forum and fair enough comments.
On the issue of Garcia, I think his skill set is not in question here. He is an exciting player to watch but also extremely frustrating at the same time. I would expect any good player worth his salt to be able to think and change his tactics (eg, swapping wings, running at certain defenders, shooting from long range etc) during the game and not to make the same frustrating mistakes over and over again for most of the 90 mins. His ball retention skill is also poor and resulting in the team losing possession and put under pressure. His finishing skill although not bad but his misses far outweights his shot on target by a margin. But I am sure most of us fans will be patience and hope for him to produce his brand of magic sooner rather than later.
As for Rafa, I think his input so far have given most of us an optimistic outlook to the next couple of seasons. I liked the way he gets his job done quietly and seemingly without breaking a sweat...great guy!
