Wenger's Gerrard fear
ARSENE WENGER fears rivals Chelsea could give their title bid a massive boost by signing Steven Gerrard.
The Arsenal boss believes Blues will make a fresh move for Liverpool’s midfield ace during the January transfer window.
Gerrard, 24, was close to a £25million switch in the summer. He made a massive U-turn and pledged his future to the Merseysiders.
But Wenger said: “Chelsea get who they want sooner or later so it might be only a temporary decision. But I am not jealous of their money. I find it exciting to fight a team with much bigger potential, financially.”
But Wenger, whose side face Gerrard at Liverpool on Sunday, insists Roman Abramovich’s dosh will make no impression on Gunners superstars Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.
He said: “Chelsea’s money is not a worry for us. Our players are committed to the club.”
But Arsenal could be forced to sell Brazilian midfielder Edu who is refusing to sign a new contract.
Wenger admitted: “I want him to sign — but he says he wants to go.”
