Stick buyout clauses in contracts I doubt that will happen, but stick a £150million one in Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard's contracts.

Agents I feel are a necessary evil. Imagine if Stevie Gerrard was paid 50 quid a match because he wasn't business savvy. Now think if all players were paid that. Of course, that makes everything sheaper for us, but what would their quality of life be like once they finish with football???

Players need agents so they get paid enough and then hopefully invest it wisely unlike Mark Bosnich.

No Footballers are vastly over-paid for just kicking a ball around a field for ninety minutes, but if that's what it takes to keep an important player in our team with us then I say give it to him. The only problem with that is when the rest of the players want to extend their contracts then they will want to be paid a similar or even the same amount as what Gerrard would be earning so that is one of the many downsides to it.

No Footballers are vastly over-paid for just kicking a ball around a field for ninety minutes, but if that's what it takes to keep an important player in our team with us then I say give it to him. The only problem with that is when the rest of the players want to extend their contracts then they will want to be paid a similar or even the same amount as what Gerrard would be earning so that is one of the many downsides to it.

I know its obscene but their career only lasts a short time and unless you can get a role commentating or attached to a former club you had better have that money invested.

Gerrard deseverves to be paid the same wage as the othe top rated players in the premiership, circa £70-£90 grand a week. Gerrard has stated the "stall" in negotiations is not about money and he's not asking for anything near the reported £100 grand a week.

Many of us think that footballers are grossly overpaid but take a look at the money top golf and tennis pro's earn, never mind your baseball and basketball players in the usa.

Sport unfortunately is a business ,can't blame the players in any sport for wanting their share of the cake.
