Right on.........there in noone better in our team to play LW apart from kewell....

Riise - blows at LW

Auerlio - Too Slow and too light weight (zero goal threat)

Babel - Many here know i just don't rate him...Next season ppl will be talking about him how they are talking about Kuyt now...But if anything, he ain't a LW. He is so one footed.....it is unbelievable. Its like he is the exact opposite version of riise who depends on his left foot a lot. Play him as a striker or a RW.....but please...for the love of god...don't play him ever at LW....

So as long as we buy drente, robben, ronaldo, vicente,or any other good LW...i say, just persist with kewell. Kewell might have lost pace...but is one of the few players who is very good at keeping the ball. His crosses from the left are also good. And it will only be a matter of time before he starts to find the net...  :buttrock

KEWELL TO LEAD US TO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GLORY  :bowdown

Im a massive Kewell fan but i have to admit that your being quite optimistic here.  Lets see him score a goal and play 90 mins first.

I believe that Kewell will be really useful for the CL, but not so much for domestic league this season.

that's the most ridiculous thing i've read in a while.

we may only be in CL for two more games. there's 18 league games left.

Can't be bothered working it out but the running costs of Kewell (price per minute on the pitch) must be the biggest joke in the Prem.

Cannot think of a more over-rated part time player in our history.

He's been acceptable in possibly 10% of the games he's played and he's one of the few who doesn't get played out of position and he still misses most attempted crosses.

Think the phrase is "flatters to deceive" - looks the business but never is.

Until we get someone in as good or better I think its a pointless arguement, he is the best left winger  we have, and if you look back at our results both with and without him you will find we are a much more successfull team with him than without him.

For what its worth I would play him support striker before Kuyt anyday of the week as well. (If we didn't need him so badly on the wing)

I don't doubt Saint that Kewell would offer more as a support striker than Kuyt, but if we are to use that as a criteria for deciding whether a player is deserving of a new contract, we'll end up with a squad of about 112 players within the next two seasons.

To be fair I don't dispute he's our best option down the left, but after a sparkly return one or two of his recent performances have brought stark reminders of how frustrating he really can be. The fact that he is our best option only demonstrates the paucity of our ability left side rather than the Australians excellence, and a credible replacement remains a major priority.

I am more than happy with that mate, what I can't understand are rumours of him being shipped off to Fulham when we have no ready replacement and apparently no chance of bringing one in.

surely if you look at this with any objection at all he has to go - wages earned, games played, and average performances all point to an exit, we should probably try to cash in and get something for him, unless the staff think he can deliver something special in the run in

Who would you play on the left for the remainder of the season then? Riise? Leto? Babel? Imo Kewell's still our best player in this position (I'd rather see Babel played as a striker, though that probably won't happen), and seing as we are unlikely to invest in a left winger this window, I definitely wouldn't sell him now. He wouldn't command much of a fee anyway with his contract being up in the summer. Let's just wait and see when the season is finished, if anything better is available and not least affordable.

Well it looks like Kewell is off on a Free transfer to Fulham,

http://www.people.co.uk/sport....ge.html

quite disapointing i think as he still has something to offer.  The writing has been on the wall after the last few weeks however.

Yeah if its true it is dissapointing!
Considering the fact that we have paid him for years and he has give nothing back its wrong.
Personally if he goes to Fulham i hope he breaks his fu.cking neck..If he ever scores against LFC he should be shot dead!

Think of the millions we wasted paying him every week while he lived the highlife with his gold digger missus showing journos around his house that LFC paid for for a cheap TV programme!
Ever see Carra,Hyypia or Finnan doing that?
NO i rest my case...there are professional footballers and there are leeches! Harry Kewell is the later!

If that article is true then I guess it's farewell Kewell, thanks for sucking the millions out of the club all these years.  I am somewhat confused though why Rafa kept him for so long.  Kewell would not have really helped us in the league because he has lost a lot of pace and it seems he's lost the hunger to win too.  He would have been useful for the CL though.
